Is it really Day 80?!! Amazing, right? It is such an odd internal fight I have with myself, this march of time. On one hand, I wish time would move a little more slowly and I think when one arrives into middle age, that is the general consensus. Getting older at a rapid pace is not fun. However, when it comes to waiting for special days and events, the childlike wonder in us all wishes for time to pass quickly. Like a birthday, or Christmas and yes, a military discharge. You catch my drift. For this Day 80 of Donghun’s service, we get a selca magic moment capturing three of my favorite things: Donghun, his smile and the moon.

There is something really sweet about the fan art I am going to share for this DH Fan-Artastic day. Back in 2017, French artist, YuiKubi was just 14 years old when she joined the Amino Apps community and posted her first piece of fan art. That fan art was of Donghun. She is an original Choice as she posted her piece on July 17, 2017 which was two short months after A.C.E debuted.

Waiting For Donghun ~ Day 78

Okay, I am throwing in the white towel on Donghun’s Instagram updates. They are simply too frequent for me to keep up with while I try to keep a writing schedule to stay ahead in order to secure future posts. It is a daunting task to keep a schedule when 638 days need to be accounted for. And well, Donghun is just too unpredictable. I love it, and I love that he is staying in steady contact. But because I map out these countdown posts a good month in advance and write them, it is just too much of a juggle for me to be constantly moving posts around to accommodate his surprise attacks!! So, going forward, I decided to share updates sporadically. If you follow Donghun on his Instagram account (bldhue), then any update shared here would actually be redundant! But, before I move to that sporadic mode, I will share his update from the wee hours of this Thursday, December 9th morning because I have to admit, it kind of hit me in the feels.

I really think that the Donghun and Chan combo should definitely look into more OST offerings. I know that Chan has done a few with Byeongkwan but that was primarily with Chan in the main vocal seat and BK rapping. Back on Day 28, we enjoyed a Vocal Magic moment with our eldest and our youngest and their cover of John Legend’s All of Me. Today, we journey back to 2016 and an acoustic version of Jung Seung Hwan’s 너였다면 (If It Were You) from the Another Miss Oh drama OST. And yes, it is dreamy, emotional and perfect. Really, we can expect no less from Messrs. Lee and Kang.

I knew that when I got to the letter C for The ABC’s of Donghun series post that the best option would be to choose Cactus. Why cactus? Well, mostly because it is the name of A.C.E’s debut song. That in and of itself renders it special. Special to A.C.E, and not only because it was their debut song, but the overall meaning of the song itself. The idea that a cactus has great fortitude to grow and can weather even the most difficult of storms speaks volumes of its strong will to survive. Similarly, a rookie group would need strength and fortitude to survive a saturated industry. And not only to survive, but to break through and shine with something different and new. Yes, that is what Cactus did. It was different and our five aces brought along with it a vibe and style not really seen in K-pop at that time.

Waiting For Donghun ~ Day 74

Well . . . Donghun strikes again! Updating, updating, updating . . . is he even away?? If I have to be honest, I think he is setting a tough precedent here. I mean, this early in his service, he is updating so often that fans will invariably expect it to continue. Nevertheless, he is keeping me on my toes and since this is his first personal, or unique to him only, social media account, he may just be just enjoying this little bit of freedom and control over something that is specifically his.

헐 . . . I am not going to lie, it is getting really difficult to keep up with Donghun’s Instagram updates! I am not complaining as I do LOVE that he is updating so frequently. But. The difficult part is keeping things organized and timely for this countdown. So, Mr. Lee is certainly challenging my ability to maintain order here — but then, this challenge is worth the effort. Again, while I was sleeping and had Day 73 all wrapped up and ready to post, Donghun took to his Instagram account and gifted us an update.

Waiting For Donghun ~ Day 72

In Greek mythology, sirens were dangerous winged creatures that used their enchanting music and singing voices to lure sailors to shipwreck on the islands they inhabited. They were even know to charm the wind. Although throughout history, sirens were generally female, there were also male sirens. And I think that is the concept A.C.E chose when they released their 5th mini album, Siren:Dawn. Dangerous creatures who lure with their enchanting music and singing voices. Seems about right. For this 72nd day of Donghun’s military service, I offer a DH Selca Magic capture of the dangerous kind. Since sirens are inherently dangerous, why not let Donghun choose a little violence?
