Well friends, at long last Donghun’s discharge day is upon us! Woo-hoo!! And then there were two left to serve because…plot twist!! Junhee was sprung back on June 12!! Yes, our dear leader had some vacation time reserved and was able to discharge early!! So, triple celebration for the month of June as Wow, Junhee and now Donghun are returned to Choice!

It is genuinely hard to believe that the charming men of A.C.E have to celebrate their 6th anniversary as enlistees!! But, here we are. I am trying to think of another group where every member was concurrently serving and, as a result, had to celebrate their debut anniversary while serving. The only one I can think of is ONF who all went in roughly on the same day. In any event, A.C.E came to us on May 23, 2017, and this year marks their 6th year together. I will use Donghun’s 608th day of service to commemorate and celebrate their incredible debut – hot pants and all – the energetic and meaningfulĀ Cactus.

Well, it’s official, and I am taking this auspicious 600th day of Donghun’s service to make an announcement: Donghun has become a father!!! Not in the conventional sense, of course, but a dad nonetheless. Back on February 21st, DH took to A.C.E’s official Daum Cafe and left a sweet message about his new parental status, introducing us to his sweet little poodle pup, Valen.
Welcome to the A.C.E family little one! I hope we see more of you in the coming days, especially in celebration of your appa’s discharge which is just 38 days away. Congratulations Donghun! And to little Valen, I hope you are ready to meet all of your Choice aunties from across the globe!

Oh my goodness gracious Mr. Lee Donghun is officially 30 years old!!!!! Now I know by some K-pop standards and to some K-pop fans, that pushes him right into ahjeossi-land. But when you are aĀ mature K-pop fan such as yours truly, dirty thirty is prime! Oh, and let me be clear: when I say mature, I mean senior citizen halmoeni-esque mature! So, how shall we celebrate such a momentous occasion on Day 524 and Donghun’s 30th revolution around the sun?! How about an explosion of DH fan cams? It’s his special day, so why not? Let’s go!

It is the 500th day of Donghun’s military service!! 5-0-0! Amazing, right? The end of his service is a mere 138 days away ~ we are truly almost there!Ā I don’t know if you would agree, but these 500 days have actually moved rather quickly. Of course for those yearning for all of our A.C.E men to return, I know, I know ~ it’s draaaagggging!! Anyway, for this special marker, I felt like traveling back to 2019 and theĀ Savage era. This was actually the era where I became an official Choice and it was during this era where I first saw A.C.E live on stage in my city! So both the era and the song itself hold special meaning for me personally. That said, A.C.E turned things up a notch with Savage,Ā served up some formidable violence, and our Dong Dong was there every step of the way full of swag, attitude and fire.

Day 400!! Can you see the light at the end of the tunnel yet? It seems to be getting brighter and brighter, right? For this milestone I thought we might enjoy some fan art. ThisĀ Fan-Artastic selection comes to us all the way from Indonesia and I think it is so very, very cool. Putri Sabrina Ramadezky imagined Donghun in a playing card setting where she aptly drew him as theĀ Ace of Hearts. What I absolutely love about her rendition is the medieval,Ā Game of ThronesĀ look she gave our regal main vocal.

YEAH!!! One year successfully completed!!! So, let’s have some fun. K-pop fans are genuinely spoiled. Having our favorite artists and groups simply singing, dancing and performing is already a lot. But our K-pop idols go several extra miles to entertain and connect with their fans. And A.C.E is no exception. And while we often get to see our fave idols making the variety show circuit, the exclusive content they create on their own is the proverbial icing on the cake. Another milestone!! Yes, Donghun officially has under 300 days remaining in is his military service! Hoorah! These baby steps are adding up, aren’t they? For today, a Donghun Selca Magic moment.Ā I feel like a selca from theĀ Take Me HigherĀ era and was a little inspired by a line from the songĀ that read,Ā ‘. . .the prettiest flower is always so far away.’ Yes, our pretty flower Donghun may seem far away, but discharge day is indeed getting closer. I love the Take Me HigherĀ era even though maknae Chan (my confirmed bias wrecker who has, in all honesty, made the wreck complete ~ š¤·š»āāļø) did not participate inĀ this comeback due to his promotions as a member of the temporary boy group,Ā UNB. The Wonderland album was a reissue that included three single albums the group had previously released andĀ Take Me HigherĀ was the vibrant, colorful and energetic title track. During this era, Donghun was sporting short spiky hair that was for a time it was a brilliant neon orange color. For the selca today though, a little toned down version.

It’s Day 300 and we are almost half way there! To celebrate this 300th day, I want to turn back the clock to theĀ Under Cover Tour and see a little bit of it through Donghun’s eyes.Ā In June 2019, A.C.E brought theirĀ Under Cover Tour to Canada. Oh how I would have loved to see A.C.E in Canada, especially Montreal. I have never been to Montreal but it would have been super special because from what I have been reading, A.C.E was the first K-pop group to hold a concert in Montreal. That’s a big deal, in my opinion. The focus of this post is not on the show, however. No, I want to share Donghun’s short vlog that focuses on the group’s arrival into Montreal and then on to Toronto, and his cute way of documenting being in the fresh air of Canada under beautiful blue skies.

We have reached another milestone in theĀ Waiting For Donghun countdown and, in this instance, a rather auspicious day for both A.C.E and Choice. It is Day 243 but today also marks A.C.E’s fifth anniversary. We celebrate with joy, but do so somberly as four of our amazing five are currently on hiatus serving their country. For some reason, it feels right to celebrate with the artistic and movingĀ Jindo Arirang (Prehistory). If you are even a fraction of the history nerd I am, you are no doubt fascinated by A.C.E’s take on this much revered and historically rich and moving Korean folk song.
