Musing While Cruising the Hallyu Highway

At midnight on June 5, 2015, J Tune Camp released a 48-second teaser video of MBLAQ’s upcoming release Mirror, and with it unleashed a wave of emotion that rushed over us culminating the last eight months of mystery, wondering and worrying.

Ok yeah, it was a rough autumn and a rather excruciating winter. Coupled with that, the prolonged hibernation of our beloved three MBLAQ teddy bears hasn’t helped matters much either. Yet as we enter spring, it seems they have begun to push themselves through the soil of those darker days and are starting to re-blossom as a music-making trio. With news of a new album in the works, hope does indeed spring eternal.

Twilight drops her curtain down, and pins it with a star.
It has now been two months since I have seen G.O. Two months since I watched his emotion erupt and his heart spill out all over the Curtain Call stage. Now, a new year has begun and I still have not been able to adequately sum up my experience in words and transfer them here to my blog. There are far too many emotions…..still. Frankly, I don’t think I am able to sum it all up. But, I will try. I will try to explain those bittersweet moments watching G.O perform alongside his MBLAQ brothers on those two emotional evenings in late November. I will attempt to describe what it felt like to watch him offer up to us his remarkable talent. I will share how excited I am about his future. And finally, I want to tell you why I am grateful he chose me to be his fan.

There are many reasons for a native Chicagoan to dislike (and often detest and incessantly complain about) the most brutal of all seasons, winter. Winter often denotes the transition of everything in nature that was once warm, light, lush, in bloom and alive into something that is cold, brittle, barren and dying. Winter is a time of hibernation, and also a time to leave.
When I discovered that the new MBLAQ mini album being released on November 25th was to be entitled Winter and was to be an album of ballads, my heart felt heavy and somewhat sad. At the same time, however, hearing that this album would feature self-composed songs by the men, and G.O would be producing, I immediately became impatient to hear it. Now, after having it on repeat and listening to it non-stop, I have only one complaint: there are simply not enough songs.

The last two weeks have been an emotional roller coaster of sorts for A+ with news swirling around about the fate and future of MBLAQ. Unauthorized (seemingly so) releases of information stating that Lee Joon (Lee Chang Sun) and Thunder (Park Sang Hyun) were not renewing their respective contracts with J Tune and, in essence, leaving the group, had fans across the globe held in disbelief that this could be happening to our beloved MBLAQ. Grief and sadness flooded social media. How could this be happening….and just two short days prior to MBLAQ’s 5th anniversary.

If you have been following the journey of MBLAQ, those lovely music boys living in absolute quality, you are probably well-acquainted with the incredible photography and video work of Blaqstick. Tireless and prolific, Blaqstick never ceases to amaze me with the volume of pictures and videos they share with us. I always look forward to the exquisite offerings of this wonderful team.

For this post, I am going to keep my reason short and sweet. Byung Hee is lovable in any style of clothing or head wear, but I happen to think he takes the art of hoodie (or a hood of any particular style) wearing to a level all of his own. It’s a hat, so to speak, (even though it is attached to something) but, not all men can rock a hat and/or hood. He can and, well, I LOVE it.^^

I was truly hoping that video of the May 30, 2014 MBLAQ online Meet & Greet would be uploaded so I could rewatch it to make sure I was not hallucinating the events of that afternoon (well, it was early, EARLY morning for me). MWave obliged. It really happened. That sweet and furry bias of mine, G.O, visibly shocked at seeing my picture, remembered me, mentioned he knew who I was and told Seungho, Cheondoong, Mir and everyone watching how I came to Seoul to see him in his musicals. It was indeed one of the most surreal moments in my life and one I won’t soon forget.

I love you Nelly! This is the best way to begin my birthday celebration! I will do my best to coax our beautiful bias to our shores! Thank you for this delectable treat! ♡♡♡
Good day, yeoreobun! Thank you all for your gracious birthday wishes to me *throws confetti*, I had a lovely birthday celebration with my little man on Saturday. This weekend is my almost BFF’s, (I think we are now!) Michele, birthday! We chat every minute of our time! We created a tumblr blog together, Byung Hee World, early this year and it took off really well! We are literally famous, y’all! Anyway, this little chic will be celebrating her birthday in style! Yeap, she’s flying back to Seoul tonight to witness GO’s latest musical theater performance, The Kingdom of the Winds. She’s not just there for one show, but three shows!!!! *insert cuss words* Sigh… If I don’t have to fly for work next week, I’d have tag along with her! This is a once-in-a-life-time opportunity and I blew my opportunity to hold the man’s hands!!! Potentially twice! Or more! *cries in the…
