The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 664

I am one of G.O’s fans who has a healthy appreciation for the creative collaboration and subsequent music that was born during his time with Tykeys. Every song, including Su’s solo work, is a candidate for the Vocal Virtuosity list. Every single one. Lately, R&B has taken a firmer foothold in South Korea (much to my delight); however, back in 2007, it did not get the exposure and respect it deserved. Inasmuch as Ty Project No. 1 was an amazing album, in my opinion, it never got proper recognition, promotion and airplay. I listen to it quite a bit so it gets lots of airplay in my house! Often when I am listening to it, I long to hear the present and seasoned vocalist G.O sing the songs of that album. The closest we actually came to that was when G.O appeared with rapper Nassun on Trend-E’s The Muzit show back on 9 October 2010 wherein he sang 22 seconds of Tykeys’ first single, I’m Sorry. And it was twenty-two seconds of absolute vocal virtuosity.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 662

I am not ashamed to admit that I envy those who can draw. That envy is never more greener than when I see G.O fan art because I know if I could draw, I would probably be spending many hours of my free time hunched over a sketchbook or canvas drawing his likeness. I have often said that G.O is a wonderful work of art all unto himself. His physical features are flawless and lend themselves well to an artist’s pen, pencil or paintbrush. Today’s fan art is compliments of a Russian artist by the name of Julia whose gorgeous rendition of G.O is a perfect example of why I believe he is an artist’s perfect model.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 661

I have been thinking about the Men In Blaq concert recently. It was MBLAQ’s first major concert and therefore pretty special. The one thing about the early concert tours that I did not get to experience at Curtain Call back in November 2014, were the special stages. I was thinking about all of the G.O special stages I did not get to see which makes me hungry for all upcoming special stages he will give us when he returns. But this post is not about special stages or even really the MIB concert. No, it is a just quick visit to a moment of G.O’s Fabled Fan Service that just so happened to have occurred on that day, 20 August 2011. It probably may not necessarily be deemed blatant fan service; but to me, whenever G.O engages with fans outside of the purview of a fan sign, fan meeting or performance, he is more than exercising fan service. He is exercising a desire to connect which is fan service on steroids.^^

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 660

When isn’t a G.O-focused Mona Lisa fan cam a good thing? It is always a good thing. Whether on a Friday or any day, watching (and hearing) G.O during Mona Lisa is a tantalizing delight. I think it has been well over 100 days since I last honored a Mona Lisa performance, so time seems about right to have another. For this Fan-camming Friday, I am choosing a focused cam from the Cheong-gu Prime Concert on 8 August 2012.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 659

Somewhere and some time ago, it came to pass that a tradition would be born. That tradition was arming G.O with a water gun during the closing song or songs of a MBLAQ live concert show. It would almost seem if something were awry if G.O were to circumvent the course of a stage and stage runway at the close of a show without some kind of water-laced weaponry affectionally dousing his minions. I suppose if I were to research this phenomenon thoroughly I would be able to pinpoint the exact show where he received the first in his arsenal of many water guns. Instead, I am just going to honor his adorable playfulness in picture form for today’s G.O One Shot. And yes, multiple shots.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 658

It is not too late in this countdown game to add a new sub-category, is it? I kind of wish I would have thought of this one sooner, but inspiration arrives when the time is right I suppose. Just a short, but oh-so-sultry moment from the musical theater stage today that I am going to go ahead and place in the newly minted sub-category I am simply calling, G.O Dance Break. There are 73 days remaining until discharge and I actually believe I could conceivably find 73 instances of G.O dancing outside of the purview of set MBLAQ choreography. I am kind of tempted to challenge myself but instead, I will see how many I can get in the countdown before he comes back. Today, a mash up from the Gwanghwamun Sonata musical stage. A mash up? Yes, I will explain.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 657

Recently, I read that G.O’s Seopyeonje co-star Cha Ji Yeon (who was currently in latest production of the musical) won a Korean Culture Entertainment Award for her role as the compelling Song Hwa. That just opened the Seopyeonje flood gates for me all over again and I decided to share (most likely again and perhaps more than once), one G.O’s magnificent performances of My Life Is Gone captured on video because the Vocal Virtuosity vault has plenty of room to accommodate this amazing song from the masterpiece musical.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 656

It is true that G.O’s mellifluous voice is what often captures our attention first and foremost in connection with his artistry. It is his voice that he has tamed and trained, nurtured and developed. Indeed, G.O’s voice is the instrument he has undoubtedly mastered. But, he has proved that he knows his way around a couple of other musical instruments and back on 21 January 2011, he gave us a playful taste of his piano prowess during and MBC Best Friends Radio program.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 655

Isn’t it wonderful when G.O updates two days in a row? It creates a sense of satisfaction for his fans because his diligence in keeping in contact has been (and remains) consistent. Conversely, it makes us hunger for even more, don’t you think? But, fear not G.Oddesses, I have a feeling more is coming. A lot more as a matter of fact. In the meantime, let’s take a stroll with him down memory lane back to early 2010 with his update on the afternoon of Saturday 2 December.
