I truly am of the firm belief that there is a time, season and reason for all things that happen in our lives. I still remember so clearly Lee Joon’s words during one of the Curtain Call shows back in November 2014 where he said that even brushing against someone’s shoulder is one’s karma. It may sound all granola breath and tree huggy, but I think that he (like me) believes in the power and force of the universe and how our lives play into and are affected by it, including the people we meet and come in contact with. This is perhaps why I completely missed falling heart first into the G.O vortex before he released either of his digital singles, and most notably, Play That Song. I wasn’t ready. But I came close, for it was by early December 2013 that I was on the road to G.O-ville. All things for a reason.^^ For our G.O One Shot today, I steal a moment from the mini Play That Song MV, in .gif form.

I admit that I have not always watched variety show appearances at the time of airing (of course, many I have missed having come to the fandom late) so I don’t experience the excitement perhaps real time. Watching at a later date can work out better actually though because often at initial airing, there are no subtitles. So although it is a thrill to watch our biases engage and interact on a variety program, if we don’t understand Korean, we are not going to have the full  experience. And a full experience is exactly what you would want from Episode 96 of JTBC’s variety talk show program Witch Hunt, when G.O and Mir dropped by to share their views on relationships.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 332

G.O officially has under 400 days left in his military service!! Yes, we have dipped below 400 on this 332nd day ~ he has 399 days remaining and in thirty-four days, he will complete the first of his two year enlistment. To say I am excited is an understatement. I don’t want to exhaust my celebration tank just yet. Inasmuch as I would love to give some G.O treasures away, it seems (at least by the lack of interest for the One Mirror A Month giveaway) that idea might be better coinciding with completion of one year. But wait, that’s right . . . I will have an announcement on 18 February 2017 (the one year anniversary of his enlistment), if you remember reading this ~~~> post. In the meantime, let’s just take a moment to celebrate with G.O on this small, yet commemorative day.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 331

As we near on the one year mark of G.O’s service, I have been wondering if I should do anything different for the final days here on the Countdown. I thought about scaling back a little and really making it simpler – as was my original plan until the series took on a life of its own. I keep telling myself that any little bit will still be amazing since, well…it’s G.O! So I think my best option is to just go with the flow and let the series decide ~ let the inspiration that G.O gives to me continue to be the barometer that dictates what I do and how I honor him during 2017, and that last month and two weeks in 2018. Sounds like a good plan, right? For today, Day 331, it’s a Fan-Camming Friday and I wanted a cam that was a little more recent. My choice is some G.O-focused Mirror from MBLAQ’s June 2015 Showcase.

In parsing through MBLAQ archives, I am amazed over the number of radio programs G.O appeared on since debut. I am quite sure they are all floating out there waiting for me to discover each and every one of them. Sometimes there is simply not enough hours in a day to fangirl properly, but I am thankful for every moment I do get to discover something new. For me, since I am a relative newb here as a fan, I cannot always automatically place a picture with it’s corresponding event or appearance. I am happy to have re-stumbled upon some lovely photographic captures of G.O from a January 2013 stint as radio DJ (along with maknae Mir) on KBS Kool FM’s Kiss The Radio and along with them, some playful moments caught on video of our cheeky, adorable and wickedly handsome disc jockey of the hour.

When I first started One Shot days, my entire point of them was to share one picture or one .gif. Over the course of almost one year now (yes……….we are literally closing in one year of G.O’s service being completed), I have bent and stretched and violated my own rules but all with good intention for sometimes one picture is simply not enough. Today, I will stay within the parameters of my One Shot rule book. One picture. One smile. One lovely capture of one handsome and amazing man.

Any time you stand G.O on a stage and let him sing with someone I am automatically going to label that a Heavenly Collaboration. His voice and presence added any time, any where, in any genre, with any vocalist is going to be magical. The angelic presence of G.O joining Nichkhun, Minah, Risako, and P.O for a special stage performance of Let It Go at the M Countdown No. 1 Artist of Spring 2014 in Yokohama may not have seen him with a whole lot of vocal time, but his gentle vocals were sweet perfection in any event. And he was a complete vision in white.

Although hours, days, months and years may pass and the spring of 2014 become more and more of a memory, the one constant that will always bring me back to those amazing days will be G.O’s voice. Yes, the voice that captured my heart and imprinted itself upon my soul. Because the first time I was introduced to G.O’s voice live upon any stage was through Seopyeonje, I find myself revisiting the music and the moments of the musical over and over. Today, the sweet and achingly beautiful 연가 [Sonata].

We all must agree that sometimes the suits/clothing style our gorgeous music men in absolute quality had to wear were sometimes a bit extravagant and somewhat loud. I realize that on a stage, images and even the artists themselves must appear larger than life. It is all part of the entertainment process and I understand that completely. Still, I love the easy comfort of button down shirts, some times with a jacket, sometimes not, with dress slacks as seen during Mirror, or those amazing suits our men wore during the Broken era. A quiet sophistication. However, I am not going to deny how fantastic and sexy G.O looked at the Lotte World Public Broadcast show on 25 February 2012 in that vibrant red and black ensemble.
