The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 303

You know, in MBLAQ’s early debut days, I think many fans were misled by G.O’s mature, street saavy look with his cropped tossled hair and goatee, and were quick to label him a bad boy. I think if I would have discovered him in those early days, he would have had the opposite affect on me, for all I see is dreamy, handsome and sexy. With five members in the group, I know G.O was not always the focal point (amazing to me but true~^^); however, if fans paid attention (and there were many who did) to the incredible passion, strength, tone and beauty of G.O’s voice while getting lost in his expressive eyes while he sang, the truth of his tender and romantic heart would shine through revealing that his core was softer than any flower boy in Korean popular music at that time and probably still is. It is nine days before Christmas and Fan-Camming Friday. In anticipation of the holidays, I want to revisit the 24 December 2009 TBS Christmas Special and MBLAQ’s hyung line performance of My Dream with a cam focus on G.O . . . of course. The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 249

I understand it, I really do. I get that when a new group bursts on to the Korean popular music scene that there is a formula in place wherein each member of said group has a role. And those roles are generally assigned accordingly to the strength of each member as to what they will bring to the group. I get it. But I have to say with all honesty that in the spring of 2010, Lee Joon’s role of visual in MBLAQ was duly tested following the Y comeback and that G.O easily challenged that role. Yes, I’d say G.O’s role changed with that comeback from main vocal to main vocal and visual, visual….VISUAL!

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 214

On 26 May 2011, Episode 12 of MBLAQ’s Sesame Player aired and with it the final Fragrant Interview. The Fragrant Interview segment was one of my favorite of the series because it was almost like a truth or dare (without the dare) game wherein one of the men acted as interrogator asking a series of questions to their unsuspecting MBLAQ brother. If the answer was not acceptable, a penalty was issued in the form of a fart bomb. In Ep 12, the Interview was like a retrospective of the previous Interview segments and is my random Sesame Player episode choice for Day 214 of G.O’s military service.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 190

It has been awhile since I raided the Hello Baby archives for a post so I decided to choose a random episode to have some fun with on this 190th (OMG….!) day of G.O’s service. I chose Episode 7 which as you may recall, was the episode wherein the MBLAQ appas decided they needed a mother for the children. This ep introduced five potential mommy candidates who, according to the appas, needed to possess four very important traits in order to be considered for the position (G.O offering the first two…lol!): 1. Beauty. 2. Beauty. 3. Wealth. 4. Some childcare knowledge. *smh* <~~~~ And vigorously so!! <hehe>

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 171

It has been some time since I opened up the Sesame Player vault to feature a moment from a randomly chosen episode and since it is the 6th of August I went ahead and chose Episode 6 and from that episode, the Ddabong Challenge. The goofy antics of Seung Ho, G.O, Joon and Cheondung had me giggling throughout the entire segment. Of course, that was when G.O wasn’t assaulting all of my senses with his charm, charisma, pouty lips and dreamy eyes. So distracting! ~.^

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 146

Imagine you are in your golden years, a grandma or grandpa, living quietly tending to every day life when a barrage of celebrities descend upon your small village with camera crew in tow. Imagine further that the celebs included members of MBLAQ. Even though it was a variety show that was perhaps comedic in nature, there was something also very endearing about MBC’s Hometown Variety Dreams & Fields.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 122

Would you agree that having a song on a drama OST and also showing up on the show constitutes a double bonus? And, wouldn’t it be made that much sweeter if that song was one you wrote and composed? Indeed. Such was the case for G.O and Mir’s 알고있었어 [I Already Knew]. They hit the trifecta for Channel A’s drama, K-pop 최강 서바이벌 [Strongest K-pop Star Survival], by appearing in the show, having a song on the OST, and being the writers and composers of that song.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 118

Give the tender G.O four and a half minutes of your time and I guarantee he will melt and rearrange the DNA of your heart. His final performances on Immortal Song 2 were perhaps his most poignant and moving. Maybe I am overly emotional lately. Or, maybe I am just missing him because when I watch his performance of 사랑스런 그대 [Lovable You], it brings me to my emotional knees, so to speak.
