The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 229

The best part about the otherwise goofy and nonsensical drama,더 드라마틱 [The Dramatic], was the fact that G.O was not confined to one role. I kept wondering when he would show up next and as who!! The Dramatic was a drama that featured various idol groups using their music as a back drop to a story line for each given episode. MBLAQ kicked off the series starring in the first episode, 러브스쿨 [Love School].

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 217

Imagine your bias gets his first solid, non-cameo role in a hyped-up drama with a pretty impressive cast. Then, imagine the network airing the drama decides to hold an event where your bias, along with two of his co-stars show up to promote that drama the same day it is set to premier. This is exactly what happened on 30 May 2012 when SBS brought G.O, Im Ji Kyun and Song Ha Yoon together to have a watch event with fans for the premier of the Korean drama 유령 [Ghost].

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 135

There was something very regal, majestic and somewhat medieval about the jewelry and accessory designs of Macos Adamas. The crowns. The swords. The shields. Very King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table! Inasmuch as no one was going to replicate the style and status of Chrome Hearts, many young Korean artists, actors, and performers were still happy to endorse and wear the many eclectic and stylish pieces of jewelry and eyewear Macos Adamas was offering. Including that handsome young knight above.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 128

By the second to last episode of the Korean drama 유령[Ghost/Phantom], the Cyber Crime Unit of detectives led by Kim Woo Hyun (So Ji Sub) were starting to gel at last as a team. When brusque and salty Detective Kwan Hyuk Joo (Kwak Do Won) gathers the team for an afternoon picnic, it could easily have been considered a team building retreat of sorts. The underlying reason for the getaway, however, was far more serious and instead of butting heads (as they had been doing for 18 episodes), they finally came together to begin to truly unravel the mysteries and conspiracies of the rash of murders the show revolved around.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 122

Would you agree that having a song on a drama OST and also showing up on the show constitutes a double bonus? And, wouldn’t it be made that much sweeter if that song was one you wrote and composed? Indeed. Such was the case for G.O and Mir’s 알고있었어 [I Already Knew]. They hit the trifecta for Channel A’s drama, K-pop 최강 서바이벌 [Strongest K-pop Star Survival], by appearing in the show, having a song on the OST, and being the writers and composers of that song.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 98

Have you ever watched a drama based simply on the fact that your favorite vocalist had a song on the show’s OST? I did. And, I am not ashamed to admit it! I was not well acquainted with the I Need Romance franchise until number 3 arrived. The pull (of course) was G.O’s fresh and upbeat contribution to the OST, You.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 73

A sweet seventy-three days into G.O’s military service and I am finally revisiting some of his amazing OST work! In this series I have only written about one so far, his Numbness from the Madame Antoine OST and that was 70 posts ago!!! Admittedly, I am still trying to get my footing here with these daily posts and I am trying to be judicious in offering a little something from all he has done. Likewise, I am trying to make it interesting, but sometimes my heart takes over and things get wishy-washy. Fair warning, this will be one of those posts because his song from the Doctor Stranger OST, 내일이 안 올 것처럼 [Like Tomorrow Won’t Come] is my favorite of his OST songs, and probably one of the most touching, emotional and beautiful love ballads he has ever sung…as well as also had a hand in composing.
