The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 660

When isn’t a G.O-focused Mona Lisa fan cam a good thing? It is always a good thing. Whether on a Friday or any day, watching (and hearing) G.O during Mona Lisa is a tantalizing delight. I think it has been well over 100 days since I last honored a Mona Lisa performance, so time seems about right to have another. For this Fan-camming Friday, I am choosing a focused cam from the Cheong-gu Prime Concert on 8 August 2012.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 659

Somewhere and some time ago, it came to pass that a tradition would be born. That tradition was arming G.O with a water gun during the closing song or songs of a MBLAQ live concert show. It would almost seem if something were awry if G.O were to circumvent the course of a stage and stage runway at the close of a show without some kind of water-laced weaponry affectionally dousing his minions. I suppose if I were to research this phenomenon thoroughly I would be able to pinpoint the exact show where he received the first in his arsenal of many water guns. Instead, I am just going to honor his adorable playfulness in picture form for today’s G.O One Shot. And yes, multiple shots.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 648

There is simply no denying that No Love is one of MBLAQ’s quintessential pop songs. It bursts with energy, melody and yes, sweetness. Of course, this is a group effort, but when you break it down and look at it, the bulk of the vocals were actually handled by G.O, Seungho and Mir. When the angelic voice of G.O holds some vocal weight in a song, that automatically pushes it into Vocal Virtuosity territory. Inasmuch as the studio version is pure perfection, G.O’s remarkable vocals in Nagoya during MBLAQ’s Zepp Sensation Tour in August 2013, showcased the absolute clarity, strength, control of his voice as well as the undeniable command he brings to the stage.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 647

Lately I feel as if we are moving even more quickly to the discharge finish line. I think it began to feel that way once we were under 100 days. When we look back on when G.O entered training camp, the first day . . . that was officially Day 1 for this countdown. It is almost surreal to me that we are now at Day 647, with 84 days remaining. I know we all miss him, but he has certainly made this journey bearable by keeping us updated throughout, especially since February of this year. So I thought I would slow things down a bit today with a One Shot that honors the absolute beauty and tenderness of G.O’s soulful eyes. Then again, just looking at him could cause a quickening of one’s heart rate thus rendering the entire idea of slow moot. Either way, I just felt like a soulful eyes picture from our soulful main vocal.

Ok, so Dress Up . . . I think we need to have ourselves a short visit with the provocative song and performance for today’s installment of Fan-Camming Friday.  I will concur that the whole of MBLAQ were outrageously sexy during all performances of this song: anytime, anywhere. But, because the hearts in my eyes flash the word G.O, you know I will always declare him the sexiest. At the Seoul Sensation Tour show on 23 November 2013, I found G.O to not only be in perfect vocal form, he was also the epitome of nonchalant sexy. You know, the kind of sexy that sneaks up on you, and is magnanimously seductive. The best part is that he does it without even trying.

If my memory serves me correctly, during one of his chat sessions earlier this year, G.O mentioned the song My Dream, commenting on how it is a really good song. I concur. It is one of MBLAQ’s ballads where we got hear very early on the wonderful flavor, layers and versatility in G.O’s voice. In the course of these past 644 days, I have written about this song a couple times. It is because I really like it. So please humor me one more time because I dug up another early performance that serves well for a Wednesday (or any day), especially when I want to open the treasure chest of Vocal Virtuosity moments here on the Countdown. The date: 19 March 2010. The place: Myongji University.

Wow, I had not realized that for a good four months both G.O and Joon held a steady MC gig on MNET’s M Countdown back in 2010. I recall them doing it, but did not realize it was that long. I have to admit that my M Countdown watching days started with Broken so, yeah, I was completely unaware that in addition to performing on the show, they also occasionally MC-ed it as well. On 25 March, G.O was on MC duty and masternim A Lucky Day happened to be in attendance and captured a series of lovely photographs of the magnificent and gregarious MC.

I have to be honest. I am finding it increasingly difficult to calm my excitement and focus now that we are less than 100 days from discharge, especially after G.O’s recent chat with his G.Oddesses on 7 November. So many thoughts and emotions are crowding my brain, and my heart. Sometimes it is overwhelming. I find myself wondering about G.O’s future. And as much as I have been enjoying these past 639 days reminiscing, I am very ready for the next movement in the concerto of G.O’s life and career. Celebrating him each day has been the highlight of my last (almost) two years and will only be bested by the opportunity to be able to experience all of the new and exciting music, events and activities yet to come. But as we still have some time, I will pull the proverbial reins in on myself, and steer this countdown carriage back to 11 October 2013 for some focused Smoky Girl  cam of the ever debonair and disarmingly handsome G.O during MBLAQ’s performance at the IEF Seongnam International Game Festival Opening Ceremony.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 636

I have only two problems with my Vocal Virtuosity selection for today and they are: (1) it is not the full song and (2) the entertainment news reporter had the gall to talk over the pure angelic vocals of our gentle troubadour. Brief and interfered with it as it may be, it is perhaps the only live recording (that I have come across anyway) of G.O singing one of his two solo songs from the magnificent Ty Project No. 1 album, 내가 아니라도 [Even Though It’s Not Me]. Pure heaven nonetheless.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 625

Amazingly, I have let over 600 days pass without giving G.O.O.D Luv proper love and attention here on the Countdown. Shame on me because it is one of those songs that have a way of just making you smile and feel good. With its infectious beat and catchy choreography I would think that it most probably was (and is) a fan favorite and iconic in its own right as an MBLAQ pop song. I always love watching the joy in the performance the guys brought to the stage, even when effectuated in one very extravagant suit jacket. More nostalgia today for Fan-Camming Friday with a focused G.O.O.D Luv cam from the Family Science Festival performance on 24 April 2010.
