[event] One Mirror A Month

For some time now I have been wondering what I should do with my surplus copies of MBLAQ’s 8th mini album Mirror. I have already given quite a few away, and I even donated a bunch (in G.O’s name) to a non-profit organization here in the US that teaches music to underprivileged children. Still, I have quite a few copies left. So an idea came to me today. I am not sure how well it work, but it is the holidays so I thought I would propose an event and see how it goes.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 271

With the dynamic of three that is now MBLAQ, I often think about how older songs that we have not yet heard them sing would sound today. Has anyone else compiled a list like I have? One of my top requests to hear real time now would be the breathtaking ballad from their second mini album, Last Luv. Have you listened to it lately? I think it is a perfect song to add to the G.O Vocal Virtuosity section of the Countdown. His voice may not have been the one to open or close the song but was indeed the abundant and delicious main course that may have you asking . . . hmmm, do I really need an appetizer or dessert?

Love, Laughter and Seung Ho In The Rain ~ The Musical Sabita

Having now successfully conquered some pretty serious and lingering jet lag following my return from Seoul late last month, I am finally coherent enough to set my thoughts down about the musical 사랑은비를타고 [Love Is In The Rain], or as it is affectionately known in the Korean musical theater world, 사비타 [Sabita]. Since I attended the musical with the express intention of seeing MBLAQ’s leader Yang Seung Ho in his role as Dong Hyun, the focus primarily will be on his performance, but admit that I will include thoughts overall on his cast mates and the show overall. Additionally, I am including some fan account material to expose confirm Seung Ho’s incredibly sweet fan service. Yes, MBLAQ’s quietly charismatic leader is more endearing than he leads us to believe, a hundred fold more talented than he is given credit for and yes, more handsome in person than any picture can live up to. For this post, I have taken off my G.O-tinted bias glasses to give Seung Ho my undivided attention and in return, he pleasantly surprised me.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 241

Yesterday I began to take a look at G.O’s lunar astrological sign, the Fire Rabbit. Turned out to be a much longer post than I anticipated and I still had a couple more aspects I wanted to touch on so will wrap it up here on his 241st Day of service. The more cerebral and emotional side of the demure rabbit could possibly be where we can see a deeper connect between G.O and his furry lunar sign.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 237

Of course everyone remembers MBLAQ’s participation in the Idol Athletics, right? One part competition, one part fan service, and all parts entertaining. It seems G.O was always a willing and competitive participant. But he was always quick to engage and entertain the fans. It seems that the deeper I get into the Countdown series, the more sub-categories I discover. Quite simply, G.O’s fan service should have always been here, and shame on me for waiting this  long! To get started, I am going to keep this one short and sweet by taking a quick look at a moment during the 27 August 2011 Idol Athletics where G.O, along with Seung Ho took a bit of a dance break much to the delight of their fans.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 214

On 26 May 2011, Episode 12 of MBLAQ’s Sesame Player aired and with it the final Fragrant Interview. The Fragrant Interview segment was one of my favorite of the series because it was almost like a truth or dare (without the dare) game wherein one of the men acted as interrogator asking a series of questions to their unsuspecting MBLAQ brother. If the answer was not acceptable, a penalty was issued in the form of a fart bomb. In Ep 12, the Interview was like a retrospective of the previous Interview segments and is my random Sesame Player episode choice for Day 214 of G.O’s military service.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 198

Family. If there is one thing in addition to music that I feel is of utmost importance to G.O, it has to be family. It seems that when he chose to pursue music, his family has always been there to encourage and support this passion, every step of the way. Inasmuch as I adore the fact that he is the baby brother to two older sisters, it is perhaps his uncle position in the family that delights me the most.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 168

Some moments in the past are a little harder to revisit than others. Still, I find that all of the moments that I am revisiting here on the blog that are leading up to G.O’s military discharge are reminders to the how and why he captured my attention, sealed my loyalty and support, and above all, stole my heart. Days before MBLAQ would take the stage one final time as a five member group, the core three of Seung Ho, G.O and Mir made a couple of public appearances, including the opening of the Boy London flag ship store in Seoul on 27 November 2014.
