The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 349

It is pretty clear if you peruse the past 348 posts contained in this countdown series thus far that you could easily deem the majority of them as being nostalgic. With the exception of any that pertain to G.O’s actual enlistment and profile and/or selca picture updates that came thereafter, the series is kind of a retrospective on G.O’s career. Lately, I have been feeling particularly nostalgic for 2014 and I guess it is with good reason. The year 2014 was particularly meaningful for me as it was during that year I fell squarely (and safely) into one true bias land having discovered the irrepressible talent and charisma of G.O. It was my good fortune that not only was G.O prepping to hit the musical stage, MBLAQ was about to make a comeback with the release of their 6th mini album, Broken.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 334

Why don’t we just start the week off with some G.O cute overload? Happy Monday to you on this 334th Day of G.O’s service! I feel like keeping it light and fun so I decided to travel back to MBLAQ’s Japan debut days of May 2011 and, in particular, the day G.O, Seung Ho and Thunder visited the Made in BS Japan MBLAQ Special. Remember the ‘Synchronizing Questions’ segment?

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 331

As we near on the one year mark of G.O’s service, I have been wondering if I should do anything different for the final days here on the Countdown. I thought about scaling back a little and really making it simpler – as was my original plan until the series took on a life of its own. I keep telling myself that any little bit will still be amazing since, well…it’s G.O! So I think my best option is to just go with the flow and let the series decide ~ let the inspiration that G.O gives to me continue to be the barometer that dictates what I do and how I honor him during 2017, and that last month and two weeks in 2018. Sounds like a good plan, right? For today, Day 331, it’s a Fan-Camming Friday and I wanted a cam that was a little more recent. My choice is some G.O-focused Mirror from MBLAQ’s June 2015 Showcase.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 312

Merry G.O Christmas!!! It is Day 312 of G.O’s service and Christmas Day. This is the first of two Christamases we will celebrate while G.O is serving and it is still amazing to me that soon he will complete his first year. One Christmas down . . . one more to go! Just something very light and simple today, a flashback to Christmas 2009, Sukira Red Christmas, and a few sweet captures of our darling main vocal.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 310

It is Day 310 and time for another installment of  Fan-Camming Friday. This fan-camming moment is actually a sequel to Day 303 where I visited an early G.O-focused fan cam moment from the 24 December 2009 TBS Christmas Special. In two short days it will be Christmas so I thought I would keep in line with the season by sharing another focused cam of our beloved main vocal. I am calling this post G.O.O.D Christmas Luv.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 309

If I limit myself to only posting various performances of G.O singing for the next 422 days, it would be quite nice indeed. However, it would deprive all (including me) from enjoying all aspects of G.O’s charm. To be honest, it would also be lazy of me given my overall desire to share every bit of G.O’s art and talent which is in no way limited to just music. While it is true that music is what generally defines him for it seems to be his first and foremost passion, G.O’s own exploration into other genres of art certainly expands his horizons as an artist perhaps even revealing exciting new ways for him to express himself artistically. If I confine this series to just music, one thing is certain: we would miss out on getting to revisit G.Os playful antics such as those captured at Samsung Galaxy’s S III Big Idol Match on 7 August 2012.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 304

What is his process? Does the melody come and then the lyrics? Are there sometimes only lyrics and no melody? Or only a melody which he gently sets aside to contemplate or place before collaborators for words? Perhaps it is a maelstrom of words and melody that collide simultaneously within his heart and soul wherein all of the parts piece together like an intrique puzzle and a song is born. Whatever his process, G.O has proven himself to be an adept lyricist and composer. Our first glimpse of his writing prowess came with Tykeys 한번만 [Only Once], but with MBLAQ, we had our first taste with 돌아올 수 없는 [Can’t Come Back], his powerful dance track composition which provided the backdrop to Mir’s lyrics. Traveling back today to Blaq Style ~ 3D Edition, to honor Composer G.O.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 303

You know, in MBLAQ’s early debut days, I think many fans were misled by G.O’s mature, street saavy look with his cropped tossled hair and goatee, and were quick to label him a bad boy. I think if I would have discovered him in those early days, he would have had the opposite affect on me, for all I see is dreamy, handsome and sexy. With five members in the group, I know G.O was not always the focal point (amazing to me but true~^^); however, if fans paid attention (and there were many who did) to the incredible passion, strength, tone and beauty of G.O’s voice while getting lost in his expressive eyes while he sang, the truth of his tender and romantic heart would shine through revealing that his core was softer than any flower boy in Korean popular music at that time and probably still is. It is nine days before Christmas and Fan-Camming Friday. In anticipation of the holidays, I want to revisit the 24 December 2009 TBS Christmas Special and MBLAQ’s hyung line performance of My Dream with a cam focus on G.O . . . of course. [event] One Mirror A Month – December Winner (Round Two)

So . . . I gave France three days to respond and it seems there were no takers for a free copy of Mirror. As I said, I had no idea how this event would play out, but I am not defeated quite yet. My rule book reads, if the first one view/one visitor forfeits his/her win, I must move to the next one view/one visitor country on the list for 8 December, and again make the offer. Let’s see if I will be successful this time!

[event] One Mirror A Month – December Winner

The stats are in and so it begins! It occurred to me that there is really no way I can confirm the identity of the one view/one visitor. If a friend of the blog sees that their country is listed as the first one view/one visitor, they can easily contact me and say they are the one and I really cannot refute it, right? So a bit of a change in the event rules as it comes down to basically awarding the country and not necessarily the visitor. This little update and bend in the rules creates a more interesting contest now!!^^ If your country is listed as the first one view/one visitor, it will come down to who contacts me first. If you are the first to tweet me at @micheledemarco ~~>”(name of country) loves #MBLAQ #OneMirrorAMonth” then you become the proud owner of one copy of MBLAQ’s Mirror. The only caveat is that if you respond, you have to be from and physically living in the one view/one visitor winning country. Let’s begin!
