The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 159

One year has passed. And rapidly at that. It has been one year since the fan signs in Myeongdong and Incheon last July. Yes, I said rapidly because indeed it has flown by. This gives me hope that the one year, six months, and twenty-three days remaining in G.O’s military service will march by equally as quick and he will return refreshed, renewed and ready to roll. Until then, I wish to reminisce.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 157

Have you ever had one of those in between days? You know, the kind that aren’t really good, but aren’t necessarily bad either? Where the mood of the day or your own mood teeters somewhere in the middle, neutral to everything? That was my day today. So by the time I got on my train to head home for the evening, I was looking to shake myself free from the neutral with something and that something turned out to be Episode 15 of the KBS wacky variety show, Idol Maknae Rebellion. Oh…what a perfect tonic it was to watch the antics of G.O and Mir.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 150

150 days served!! Ok, true, there are quite a few more to go, but I still love to celebrate each day completed as it means G.O is closer to returning. Now with maknae Mir enlisted and safely at training camp (it’s Day 2 for him), I feel like a beaming parent (er..uh wait, more like a thrilled older sister) full of pride and happy that 2/3 of MBLAQ are currently serving together. There is a sweet synchronicity of having our beloved wild brothers serving just 148 days apart from each other. So I think today, I just want to love on the brotherhood of G.O and Mir.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 146

Imagine you are in your golden years, a grandma or grandpa, living quietly tending to every day life when a barrage of celebrities descend upon your small village with camera crew in tow. Imagine further that the celebs included members of MBLAQ. Even though it was a variety show that was perhaps comedic in nature, there was something also very endearing about MBC’s Hometown Variety Dreams & Fields.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 144

If there is one thing I am certain of after watching MBLAQ’s Hello Baby, it is that when the time comes for G.O to be a parent to his own children, he is going to ace daddy-hood. And yes, I am well aware of the fact that Hello Baby is a reality/variety show and that the men of MBLAQ were ‘appas’ for the purpose of entertainment. Nevertheless, there were still some genuine parenting moments the men faced and G.O proved he was up to the task.

G.O’s InstaHAPPYgram

Every day is a good day to be a MBLAQ fan but today was extra special. With G.O quietly serving out his military duties in public service, social media updates are cautiously allowed. He has restrained absent a few Twitter/Instagram profile picture changes which is a sweet (and cheeky) way to connect with his adoring fans while he is away. He went one better today by updating his Instagram account with this gorgeous picture of himself along with Seung Ho and Mir with a caption that read:

The three of us have been reunited after a long time.
We’ve worked hard.  Can you tell what cds are behind us.

I can work with infrequent updates from him if there are more selcas (solo or with the group) in the future. Then again, I am perfectly content with any method he chooses, so long as he continues to stay in contact. ^.~

In The Event Of An Event

I am finding that the more I continue to write about MBLAQ’s G.O, the more nostalgic I become remembering how I came to the MBLAQ fandom which in turn makes me reminiscent about many things, including the package events. I think about those events often. Although I almost always have very fond memories, there are still times I regret having done them at all. I have learned that overall people (and this is certainly not specific to our fandom) know how to take, but rarely do they know how to receive. It’s tricky. The receiving thing. I think many of us are not particularly comfortable in receiving, feeling undeserving or ineligible. Perhaps it is because some have primarily been givers that it becomes difficult to navigate the emotions of gratitude that flood our hearts when we are on the receiving end of anything be it words, physical gift, or even assistance. I understand because I, too, have trouble receiving. But, I am getting better at it. I have found that in giving I receive more than I could ever want for in a thousand lifetimes, and that has helped me become a better receiver.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 134

When music chose G.O it was most likely with the understanding that he would not be limited to only singing. It was going to be full immersion which included writing, composing and arranging. Thankfully, there are many avenues an artist of his caliber can take when music becomes his life force. The OST is indeed one of those avenues. And ok. it may have been helpful that G.O’s bandmate was cast in Iris II, but I believe 바보같 은나 [What A Fool I Am] would have landed on its OST (or any other, for that matter) because not only is it perfect OST material, it is simply a well-written song.
