Softly Behind The Curtain With MBLAQ

Twilight drops her curtain down, and pins it with a star.

It has now been two months since I have seen G.O. Two months since I watched his emotion erupt and his heart spill out all over the Curtain Call stage. Now, a new year has begun and I still have not been able to adequately sum up my experience in words and transfer them here to my blog. There are far too many emotions…..still. Frankly, I don’t think I am able to sum it all up. But, I will try. I will try to explain those bittersweet moments watching G.O perform alongside his MBLAQ brothers on those two emotional evenings in late November. I will attempt to describe what it felt like to watch him offer up to us his remarkable talent. I will share how excited I am about his future. And finally, I want to tell you why I am grateful he chose me to be his fan.

When The Universe Conspires – Prelude to the Curtain Call

I had a plan. It was a good plan. I had the goods. They were nice goods. And, I had a bias (G.O) ready to celebrate a birthday on November 6th. Having given Federal Express a good chunk of my hard-earned change via my MBLAQ Love Package campaign, I figured they would be the best bet to get my bias his birthday gifts, and do so well in advance of the actual celebration day. Best laid plans, right? It seems Fedex along with the Universe (and the Suwon Lotte Department Store) had something else in mind. When the birthday box failed to pass through customs in Seoul and was returned to me, it seemed the only way that darling man was going to receive his gift from my Byung Hee World blog partner, Nelly (MyMyooz) and I, was if I would deliver it to him myself.

When Your Bias Makes You Rethink Winter

B3NxIpQCIAIpDs8

There are many reasons for a native Chicagoan to dislike (and often detest and incessantly complain about) the most brutal of all seasons, winter. Winter often denotes the transition of everything in nature that was once warm, light, lush, in bloom and alive into something that is cold, brittle, barren and dying. Winter is a time of hibernation, and also a time to leave.

When I  discovered that the new MBLAQ mini album being released on November 25th was to be entitled Winter and was to be an album of ballads, my heart felt heavy and somewhat sad. At the same time, however, hearing that this album would feature self-composed songs by the men, and G.O would be producing, I immediately became impatient to hear it. Now, after having it on repeat and listening to it non-stop, I have only one complaint: there are simply not enough songs.

When Your Bias Tweets and Quiets the Storm

IMG_20140815_105330

The last two weeks have been an emotional roller coaster of sorts for A+ with news swirling around about the fate and future of MBLAQ. Unauthorized (seemingly so) releases of information stating that Lee Joon (Lee Chang Sun) and Thunder (Park Sang Hyun) were not renewing their respective contracts with J Tune and, in essence, leaving the group, had fans across the globe held in disbelief that this could be happening to our beloved MBLAQ. Grief and sadness flooded social media. How could this be happening….and just two short days prior to MBLAQ’s 5th anniversary.

It’s A MBLAQ Love Package Thing

For it is in giving that we receive. ~ Francis of Assisi

When I heard there was going to be an Mwave online meet & greet with MBLAQ following the release of their 6th mini album Broken, I was stoked. It would be the first time I participated in something like that and it just sounded exciting. Mwave was offering the CDs for sale with the added extra bonus of them being autographed by the men of MBLAQ. Now, I really wanted in.

[series] 116 Reasons To Love Byung Hee: #1 – Sweet Dad-Hee

Reason No. 1 – Sweet Dad-Hee

GO with Baby

When asked in an interview once, if you did not become a musician, what would you be, G.O answered: A father of an ordinary family.

Not a rocket scientist. Not the king of the world. Not the president. No, just a father of an ordinary family. It may sound simple, but in that simplicity lies something completely noble, at least to me. It is clear that family has always been and continues to be very important to him and that having a family of his own is something that he just may think about now and again. I think he takes the idea of ‘family’ and applies it to pretty much all aspects of his own life. This is a wonderful reason to love Byung Hee.

Good day, yeoreobun! Thank you all for your gracious birthday wishes to me *throws confetti*, I had a lovely birthday celebration with my little man on Saturday. This weekend is my almost BFF’s, (I think we are now!) Michele, birthday! We chat every minute of our time! We created a tumblr blog together, Byung Hee World, early this year and it took off really well! We are literally famous, y’all! Anyway, this little chic will be celebrating her birthday in style! Yeap, she’s flying back to Seoul tonight to witness GO’s latest musical theater performance, The Kingdom of the Winds. She’s not just there for one show, but three shows!!!! *insert cuss words* Sigh… If I don’t have to fly for work next week, I’d have tag along with her! This is a once-in-a-life-time opportunity and I blew my opportunity to hold the man’s hands!!! Potentially twice! Or more! *cries in the…

Breaking News: MBLAQ’s “Broken” Teaser

Ahhhhh, at long last, MBLAQ’s 6th album is about to drop (March 24). This teaser is enough to whet my appetite – I mean it opens with G.O! Soft and serious, this one sounds like it is going to go straight into the heart, pierce it, reside in it and take over. I look forward to the hearing the entire track as well as the entire album. And I am SO blessed to have my MBLAQ partner in crime, Nelly, whose anticipation, excitement and love for their new music jumps off of her blog post with such a delightful fervor! Love you, Nelly girl……! Thank you for this post!

JTune, we are NOW a little satisfied with your promise! But please, don’t do this again! Not to our sweet, sweet boys! Pinky promise? The Between Us teaser is only 0:38 long but it’s enough to poke our dying passion with their most soothing emotion they could ever pour into this MV! Well, they succeed in doing it and I’m completely smitten by them! Can March 24 be here now??? The MV opens up by the best vocal in the group, GO serenading us with his sweet, gentle voice which I found it very romantic yet sexy at the same time. It was only a line by him but errrmagewddddd I want to hear more! *heart racing 100mph* Another voice we get…

MBLAQ Musings: Panting over the Pants

“Fashion is a language that creates itself in clothes to interpret reality.” – Karl Lagerfeld

Screen Shot 2014-01-05 at 9.52.06 PM

Yes, I am having a full-blown shallow fangirl moment. When I watch the video for MBLAQ’s January 14, 2012 Music Core performance of This Is War, I admit I am highly distracted by the sixth member of the group, the pants. These pants are interpreting a reality all right – Real men built really well, wearing really close-fit pants (heck, these are nearly man-tights) really nicely. For reals! I am so mesmerized by the pants that I felt compelled to honor them here.
