Waiting For Donghun ~ Happy DH New Year 2023! (Day 466)

Wow…when we began this journey it was the year 2021 and here we are embarking upon yet another new year – but this time we are so much closer to Donghun’s discharge so the celebration feels all that much more festive! We are nearing the home stretch of our ethereal main vocal’s service as discharge is less than six months away, and time is moving rapidly (although for some of you I am sure it drags as you wait for DH to return).

Well my lovelies, at least we can say that with this new year, DH is really coming back! And listen, we will also get Wow, Junhee and Byeongkwan back in 2023 as well, so we will literally have 4/5 of A.C.E back this year! 2023 is feeling quite promising, right?! Our baby sunshine Chan will be set free in February 2024. Anyway, I am getting ahead of myself. Let’s just focus on this very moment and the start of a new year!

I wish Donghun, his dear A.C.E brothers (omg, I cannot explain how much I miss them) and all of you a most healthy, happy and prosperous 2023.

Merry Christmas everyone!!! Our second Christmas celebration of the countdown and Donghun is now just a mere six months from discharge. I hope that the light at the end of the tunnel seems brighter as we slowly creep towards completion. But you know, baby steps right? We have a few more milestones to celebrate before we welcome Donghun back which include another birthday celebration in February. Yes, our main vocal will return to us two years older and all the more wiser, I am sure. If you have been following Donghun on Instagram, you will have noticed that he keeps readily in touch with his many updates and appears to be enjoying the hiatus. He looks healthy and happy! And, that is all we can wish for during this holiday season for him and always!

Wow…..the long road continues to shorten! When we started this journey at 638 days and counting, getting into the 100’s seemed like a distant dream. True, time marches on without hesitation or break, but I think we all can agree that some days seem to just drag out longer than others. And that can be frustrating while waiting for an end point. The ‘are we there yet’ rings louder when we are so close and yet still so far. Hopefully, this little series has helped keep the journey somewhat entertaining. So what little tidbit do I have to share to celebrate Donghun having less than 200 days remaining in his service? Well. This one blew my mind. I did not know pre-debut Donghun shared the stage with my beloved GOT7. But HE DID! And, it was by way of a little mystery music game show called I Can See Your Voice [너의 목소리가 보여].

Day 400!! Can you see the light at the end of the tunnel yet? It seems to be getting brighter and brighter, right? For this milestone I thought we might enjoy some fan art. This Fan-Artastic selection comes to us all the way from Indonesia and I think it is so very, very cool. Putri Sabrina Ramadezky imagined Donghun in a playing card setting where she aptly drew him as the Ace of Hearts. What I absolutely love about her rendition is the medieval, Game of Thrones look she gave our regal main vocal.

YEAH!!! One year successfully completed!!! So, let’s have some fun. K-pop fans are genuinely spoiled. Having our favorite artists and groups simply singing, dancing and performing is already a lot. But our K-pop idols go several extra miles to entertain and connect with their fans. And A.C.E is no exception. And while we often get to see our fave idols making the variety show circuit, the exclusive content they create on their own is the proverbial icing on the cake. Take for example, A.C.E leader, Jun’s ridiculously entertaining Reaction Master.

Waiting For Donghun ~ Celebrating Under 300 Days! (Day 340)

Another milestone!! Yes, Donghun officially has under 300 days remaining in is his military service! Hoorah! These baby steps are adding up, aren’t they? For today, a Donghun Selca Magic moment. I feel like a selca from the Take Me Higher era and was a little inspired by a line from the song that read, ‘. . .the prettiest flower is always so far away.’ Yes, our pretty flower Donghun may seem far away, but discharge day is indeed getting closer. I love the Take Me Higher era even though maknae Chan (my confirmed bias wrecker who has, in all honesty, made the wreck complete ~ 🤷🏻‍♀️) did not participate in this comeback due to his promotions as a member of the temporary boy group, UNB. The Wonderland album was a reissue that included three single albums the group had previously released and Take Me Higher was the vibrant, colorful and energetic title track. During this era, Donghun was sporting short spiky hair that was for a time it was a brilliant neon orange color. For the selca today though, a little toned down version.

Waiting For Donghun ~ A.C.E 5th Anniversary (Day 243)

We have reached another milestone in the Waiting For Donghun countdown and, in this instance, a rather auspicious day for both A.C.E and Choice. It is Day 243 but today also marks A.C.E’s fifth anniversary. We celebrate with joy, but do so somberly as four of our amazing five are currently on hiatus serving their country. For some reason, it feels right to celebrate with the artistic and moving Jindo Arirang (Prehistory). If you are even a fraction of the history nerd I am, you are no doubt fascinated by A.C.E’s take on this much revered and historically rich and moving Korean folk song.

Waiting For Donghun ~ Celebrating Under 400 Days!! (Day 240)

You wouldn’t mind if I was a little sneaky with today’s DH One Shot, would you? Because . . . it is another milestone day and I am feeling happy and cheeky! Donghun officially has UNDER 400 DAYS remaining in his service!! And…well, I kind of felt like something playful. I came across a GIF that is indeed playful, only Donghun is not alone. It just so happens that little bias wrecker of a maknae of mine joins him in this GIF and I guess it is just my sneaky way of getting two for the price of one today . . . hehe. Trust me, the cute is worth it, especially if you have a soft spot for Chan which is easily had even if he is not your A.C.E bias. He is without question the A.C.E mood maker and resident happy pill and it is well-documented that even our eldest, Mr. Lee, has a super soft spot for this cheeky maknae. So, if you don’t mind, humor me.

Waiting For Donghun ~ Celebrating 200 Days! (Day 200)

Back on May 17, 2019, A.C.E released their EP, Under Cover. It must have been serendipity, destiny or fate as that’s my birthday, and it was the Under Cover tour that same year that roped me in and created a new Choice. We were meant to be, right? Anyway, the entire Under Cover EP is awesome but it has two of my all time favorite A.C.E B-sides, If You Heard and Mr. Bass. Mr. Bass is the subject of my Hunnie Cam offering today in celebration of 200 days served! Yay! Donghun in a suit, dancing to the funky Mr. Bass is really all a girl could ever need to celebrate this milestone. So, let’s hop in the A.C.E time machine and head to the International Youth Center fan sign event on June 1, 2019.

[Musings] CIX Is Coming!

I think it is safe to say that when A.C.E’s leader Junhee went into the Army back on February 7th, I fell into a bit of a K-pop malaise. With three members off to serve their country and a fourth (Byeongkwan) scheduled to go this month, I was really feeling the sting of this hiatus. Perhaps it is because individually as well as collectively, A.C.E has always been a strong presence in my K-pop realm. From a purely fan service perspective, they were there, every day – and, especially Jun. A day did not go by without him updating. I am honestly missing him more than I am missing Donghun..but, shhhhh, don’t tell DH!! I started to wonder if maybe I was hitting my K-pop fangirl expiration date. And then news of CIX having their first US tour, AND coming to my city, was announced. I have to say, I felt the shift, the squee as it were, and realized that I still have a whole lot of fangirl left in me! If you are not familiar with CIX, I hope I can persuade you to have a look and listen . . . and perhaps if they are coming to a city near you, coax you to go out and support this incredibly talented quintet.
