Many fans who have been with MBLAQ since debut certainly remember the mini documentary Making The Artist that began airing on GOMTV back on 26 May 2010. As much as I love MBLAQ in full on variety, I also enjoy a more behind the scenes type program that follows their day-to-day activities and in the case of Making The Artist, follow them as they prepared for a comeback with the release of their second mini album Y. By May of 2010, G.O had already MC-ed the M Countdown show for a couple of months and had a strong presence on the airwaves with his many radio program appearances. In my opinion, he was settling in nicely as a host. G.O has a wonderful presence on camera and is equally steady and charming on the radio. With his intelligence, wit and magnetism, I have often felt he would be an amazing host of his own variety or reality show, as well as a formidable disc jockey on the airwaves. Therefore, it is no surprise how comfortable he was talking about the business at hand on the set that day, as well as being the interviewee along with leader Seung Ho during a segment of Making The Artist.

I have spent this entire series sharing my thoughts about G.O – how I see him and how he makes me feel. From his intelligence and wit, graciousness and warmth, to his undeniable talent, I have tried to touch on it all without being overly redundant. However, I feel a redundant moment brewing for today. Hang in there with me loves as we are nearing the finish line! We have arrived to the 25th letter of the alphabet and frankly, I cannot believe it myself. The letter Y also proved to be tricky in finding a word worthy of describing G.O but then I remembered something I have talked about often here on the blog: G.O’s incredible and indeed beautiful way in which he surrenders to music and that gave me an idea. Yes, Y is for yielding.

Every time I write about G.O, it is an exercise in celebrating his talent and beauty. His talent is a given and I will never tire of writing or talking about it. When I write about his beauty however, (most of the time) I am usually referring to something that is far deeper than what the eye can see. That is not to say that G.O is lacking whatsoever in the looks department. Far from it, actually. I think he is the most handsome man on the planet. That is a bold statement, I know. But I happen to believe it. So I am going to go to the shallow end of the fangirl pool today to get lost in G.O’s beauty. You know, to just sigh at some of the handsome captured over the years.

During this final year of G.O’s military service, we have been very fortunate to have received many updates from a man who is clearly in a good…no, GREAT place physically, emotionally and most likely, spiritually. Inasmuch as I have enjoyed the entirety of these 709 days thus far, it is in within the last year that I have felt a true sense of ease knowing G.O is doing well. And, is happy. Like in really happy. For today, I honor that happy by way of a cam from a fan sign years ago. It is another Fan-Camming Friday and I would like to honor G.O’s playful fan service which is pretty much one of his signature trademarks. So back to 6 June 2010 to relive a little playful G.O from the TBJ fan sign.

It has been awhile since I have visited Broken which is why I felt like a Vocal Virtuosity moment today. And, 둘이라서 [Because We Are Two] is on my mind, probably because it recently rotated in during a shuffle play of tracks on my MBLAQ playlist after being absent for awhile. Hearing G.O’s wonderful composition with his crystal clear and powerful vocals at the helm was all I needed to make sure it found it’s place in the VV archives before I close this countdown out.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 706

I admit to being apprehensive about including G.O’s involvement in the December 2012 SBS Gayo Daejeon Color of K-Pop extravaganza here on the countdown for one reason and one reason only: He had to share the spotlight. Now, I am not adverse to him sharing the spotlight, usually. I don’t mind when he is on stage with his MBLAQ brothers or on the musical stage with other musical actors. But because I am not so keen about him losing vocal time as rule (even as a member of MBLAQ), I am less enamored of him losing it to other idols! Extreme bias rising over here! Nevertheless, I enjoyed his collaboration as part of Dramatic Blue and happily place it in the Heavenly Collaborations file here on the Countdown. Besides, he looked extraordinarily handsome in that blue Guy Laroche suit.

No matter how many times I go back to look at the incredible captures A Lucky Day gave fans during her time documenting the early evolution of MBLAQ, I am still left in awe of her work. And, grateful. Today I honor her (along with her subject of course) in my newly created category of Through Fan Eyes. Through her, we were invited to experience the magnetic charm of G.O’s stage presence, and often. From the TBS Sharing Love Concert back on 13 March 2010, I invite you to resist the lure of G.O. As you know, Vocal Virtuosity moments come in all shapes and sizes here on the Countdown. From short samples to full length songs, I honor all where G.O’s voice is the main attraction. Today is a short sample offering. And, as always, a beautiful vocal moment from our gentle main vocal man. At the 2nd Official Japan Fan Meeting on 12 August 2011, G.O serenaded his JA+ with a few lines from Kim Bum Soo’s 네버 엔딩 스토리 [Neverending Story] and no doubt created an ache for more.

Okay, I am not going to lie. I admit to being somewhat concerned about what I was going to do when I reached the letter X in The ABC’s of G.O sub-series here on the countdown. The letter X is not the friendliest of letters when trying to find adjectives in general let alone one adequate to describe our lovely G.O. But, I think I found one.^^ We all know that G.O has an affinity for travel and that his life and career as an artist has allowed him many opportunities to see a great many parts of this world. Although the life of an artist, celebrity, etc., can be difficult at times in that they are often always under scrutiny, the perks of being able to see the world, experience cultures and meet people from all walks of life, is certainly enriching and I think G.O would agree. This is why I am comfortably saying that G.O is xenophilic.
