It has been awhile since I have visited Broken which is why I felt like a Vocal Virtuosity moment today. And, 둘이라서 [Because We Are Two] is on my mind, probably because it recently rotated in during a shuffle play of tracks on my MBLAQ playlist after being absent for awhile. Hearing G.O’s wonderful composition with his crystal clear and powerful vocals at the helm was all I needed to make sure it found it’s place in the VV archives before I close this countdown out.
둘이라서 할 수 있잖아
[We could do anything because it was us two]
나 혼자선 아무것도 할 수 없잖아
[but now I can’t do anything alone]
Oh 이렇게 난 오늘도 널
[Oh, again today]
그리워해
[I long for you]
Even with it’s mid-tempo groove, this is a very sad song our sweet G.O has composed. With five parts written, G.O as main vocal takes on the heart of the song: the chorus. Yes, the chorus here is the part of the song that is filled with the most lament and we all know how lament beautifully pairs with G.O’s emotional voice. There is something about the acoustic guitar that is being strummed throughout the song that feels like tears, especially in the closing moments when it is accompanied by the sounds of falling rain.
Our hero laments that his own foolishness drove away his love and that now, nothing seems right after she has gone. He cannot wrap his head around doing anything alone. That when they were two, everything was good. Now that she is gone, he is lost. The worse part is that he knows it was his fault. When G.O sings the chorus to this song laced with his own improvs, we can hear the regret and helplessness in his voice. Did he live the story in this song?
Truth be told, I think many of us have lived the story in this song.
