The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 373

There was a time when G.O walked on US soil and yes, I missed it. Had I been dialed in to MBLAQ and all of their activities, I would have probably found my way to Los Angeles in April 2012 to experience a little slice of G.O’s genuine fan appreciation when a mini fan sign of sorts took place and he met with fans for a little one-on-one autograph session.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 372

Gratitude is learned at very early age. I am certain most all of us were taught as children that when you receive something, you say thank you. But not all are as well-versed in the art of being gracious for things that not necessarily tangible: admiration, support, respect, love. Often we seem to forget that these too are great gifts to receive and as such should require equal gratitude even if we cannot touch them or hold them. G.O understands the art of gratitude. And I suspect it has been with him ever since his cognizance developed and he could understand the concept. He certainly understood it extremely well in the early days of his career. I thought it was a good day to share another installment of G.O’s Fabled Fan Service here on the countdown.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 371

Wow…we are less than a month away from hitting Day 400!! You are going to have go along with me here when I get excited about these upcoming mini milestone moments. Four hundred days, though. Remember back when G.O left for training camp and we all let out this incredible and I suspect quite audible ‘ugggggggh….730 days’? I remember. I remember having to comfort a few by reminding them that it will go by quickly and it has! Ok, I will slow down here for now and try to contain my excitement. It is only Day 371, but is a G.O One Shot .gif day. Seems like a nice day to throw some G.O love out into the blogosphere!^^

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 370

When I sit down to consider upcoming Countdown posts, I find myself fighting the urge to make every day a Vocal Virtuosity day. I really enjoy listening to G.O sing. It is that simple. I am reminded time and again how rich, soothing and calming G.O’s voice is the quiet tenderness of a beautiful ballad. This is how I feel about Celebrate. And today, it is the warm embrace I am absolutely yearning for and need to share.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 369

Don’t you just love the G.OMir dynamic? It has to be one of the most playful inter-group relationships in popular music (Korean or otherwise) today. I really have no foundation on which to build that statement as I have no idea what the dynamics are in other groups since I follow none other than MBLAQ; but I think theirs would a standard by which I could measure all others. I am so ferociously biased, aren’t I? Bottom line with MBLAQ though (in my opinion) is that G.O is the special ingredient in the mix that always brings the playful out in others. Pairing G.O with the equally playful Mir as disc jockeys in charge of a radio studio lays the groundwork for good entertainment, albeit wrapped in mischief.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 367

Today marks the one year anniversary of when G.O entered training camp. One year ~~ whooosh! One year ago we said our good-byes (temporarily of course) and now we find ourselves in the final stretch. Come to think of it, there is now less than a year remaining.  It has not been too difficult, right? We can attribute a lot to G.O himself who, even though serving, has been ever thoughtful with his quiet and tactful ways of communicating survival reports. I have thought about this day often because I knew this was going to be the day I would officially announce and invite one of G.O’s devoted fans to travel to Seoul to welcome him back. I have pondered over who I would ask and equally contemplated how I could make the adventure special and memorable.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 366

And with a long and satisfying sigh . . . I can officially say that G.O has completed one full year of his two year military obligation and that he has exactly 365 days remaining. It has been an absolute honor celebrating this incredible young man every day since he entered training camp back on 18 February 2016. In its own little way, each day has almost been like a prayer of gratitude for me. Each day a small way to be thankful that G.O has shared his artistry, his kindness, his charm and his own humble graciousness so very generously with all of us. For today’s very meaningful celebration, I just want to share a little bit of G.O’s angelic presence from MNet’s July 2011 Wide Open Studio on this celebratory Fan-Camming Friday day.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 365

When this day is done, when this twenty-four hours of this 365th day of G.O’s service is complete, he will officially have one year remaining in the ROK Army. I am excited but I am trying to keep a lid on the emotions because well, there are still 365 days to go. If this last half moves nearly as quickly as the first half, we will all blink and G.O will be retiring the camo wear! However, he does wear camo well. Indeed. Therefore, for our G.O One Shot day today, I will share the lovely photographs that came out of the KATC [Korea Army Training Center] during G.O’s time at training camp.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 364

By early 2012, MBLAQ had released their fourth mini album and were really conquering all of Asia. Indeed, they had won the hearts of Japanese fans. In March of 2012, they released a compilation CD of some of their best Korean songs (to date) for the Japanese market which included a Japanese version of You’re My +. The album was entitled Blaq Memories ~ Best in Korea. With it came an album cover/booklet photo shoot and with that photo shoot, a short film, MBLAQ Blaq Memories ~ Off Shot Movie. For today, Day 364, I would like to share a few golden G.O moments from the Blaq Memories photo shoot and movie.
