Inasmuch as I long for a revival of each of G.O’s musicals with him back to reprise his roles, it is Gwanghwamun Sonata that I especially would like to see. Yes, you are right to believe I say that because it was the only one I did not see. Can you blame me for wanting to turn back time or, in the alternative, see him back in the tempestuous role of political activist Kang Hyun Woo? I was duly heartbroken when I recently discovered that the musical is actually being revived for a short run beginning in December. Waaah! I suppose what little is out there in way of fan cam and pictures of G.O’s performance is all we will get . . . for now. Today then, I would like to return to the Gwanghwamun Sonata stage to revisit the vivacious and energetic closing curtain call number for this Fan-Camming Friday.

I think there are probably many words in the English language beginning with the letter “P” that can accurately describe G.O, but none are probably more on point than the word passionate. I can say that with complete confidence when describing him in terms of his art, specifically his music. I believe he shows that openly with every note intonated and sung. Still, I have to believe that passion envelopes G.O’s life on many levels and in many ways. But for the sake of this ABC’s of G.O moment, I look to his music and say P is for passionate.

On Tuesday, 17 October, G.O took to his Instagram account with this update perhaps from a salon where he was making that which is already way handsome even more gorgeous.^^ His purpose though was not to share the event unfolding. No. Instead, he wanted to call our attention to the fact that he does not have a private account. Well, that came out of nowhere. <hehe> He wrote:

저 프라이빗 계정 없어요[I do not have a private account]
사칭 제보 부탁드립니다 [Please let me know about the account pretending to be me]

And then included the hashtag:

#날왜사칭하는거짘ㅋㅋ으잌ㅋ [#WhyissomebodypretendingtobemeㅋㅋYikesㅋ]

For the record, there is no way to clone this guy. No way. See, when the gods created G.O, they broke the mold. So then, imposters ~~~> be gone!

In the early days of this countdown series I was giving all kinds of love to G.O’s turn in the drama Couples Clinic: Love & War 2 that he starred in alongside Rainbow’s Go Woori. I admit to being completely smitten with the idea that he was in a drama that had romance as its foundation. As you know, there are so many things that attract me to G.O. For certain, his ability to tap into his romantic side be it in music, drama (and hopefully some day, film) is high on that list. You will all recall that moment in the episode when Joo Won proposes marriage to Go Eun during a romantic dinner which also included Joo Won serenading her prior thereto with a short excerpt of Han Dong Joon’s classic love song, 너를 사랑해 [I Love You].  Undeniably, a Vocal Virtuosity moment.

I feel like a Windows To Your Soul ~ The G.O Eye Connect moment today and found a nice example in fan-cam form. I thought about waiting until Friday to make it a double categoried day but then figured why wait? I am relaxing my rules these final days of G.O’s service. I should even try to challenge myself to come up with fan-cam moments for each day remaining. I am confident there are enough cams out there to satisfy that challenge and I am sure it would be cool with everyone, right? Hehehe….cams will steadily make appearances regardless of the day and if I chose that route, I would not get my One Shot moments in or finish the alphabet in The ABC’s of G.O sub-series. And you know I must keep those selca moments in rotation. Therefore, I will stay my current course. For today then I give an Eye Connect moment from the taping of the MBC Korean variety program, 매직쇼크 [Magic Shock].

In the late afternoon of 14 October, G.O updated his Instagram account with a quad of pics from the past which quite frankly could fool any of us into believing he posed for them today. Seriously, has he discovered the elusive fountain of youth? With MBLAQ’s anniversary this month and his birthday coming next month, could G.O possibly be feeling the wave of nostalgia as we traverse these milestones?

He captioned his latest update with 오 이 얼굴 좋아 [Oh, this face I like] and gave the post the hashtag #응즐토 which is an abbreviated way of saying Yeah, Happy Saturday. Getting a G.O update and seeing his handsome face on any day makes me happy. Really happy!~♥

Happy 8th Anniversary MBLAQ!!

October 15, 2017 marks MBLAQ’s 8th anniversary. Yes, eight years ago today MBLAQ debuted and revealed to Korean popular music and fans around the world, a versatile group with talent, vision and a stockpile of charisma. At their zenith as five, they were powerhouses on the stage, and were the kings of variety brimming with comedic timing and a natural ability to charm not only the many show hosts, MCs and DJs they met, but colleagues and fans alike. Yes, there have been highs and there have been lows, but they are still standing intact as three, as talented and charismatic as ever. I celebrate their love, friendship and unity, not only today, but every day.

I admit there are some residual feels lingering from Day 592, watching the playful antics of G.O and Mir together. There is something sweet and special about their brotherhood. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that they are both water signs or that they are both the baby brothers in their respective families. Then again, maybe it is something far simpler. Maybe they love and respect each other as friends, colleagues . . . brothers. My G.O One Shot today honors a little of that bromantical brotherhood in a couple of very sweet and darling captures of the two very charming baby brothers.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 604

I think you will agree that G.O’s steady updates over these past eight months have been one of the ways he has shown his appreciation for his fans. He seems to want to stay in contact, to communicate, to reciprocate, and to even let us take this particular journey with him as he completes his military service. He has given us beautiful selcas, celebrated the wonderful upgrades he has made to his recording studio, as well as let us take a peek into how he relaxes and enjoys his downtime. G.O’s connect to his fans from what I have seen has been seamlessly congruent with the kind of celebrity he truly is: warm, friendly, humble and gracious. When I take a look back at G.O’s ‘fan service’ moments well before I knew who he was, nothing has changed from then to now. Sure he has matured; but when it comes to appreciating his fans, that has remained constant. For today’s Fan-Camming Friday offering, I choose a sweet fan appreciation moment from our affable main vocal captured back on 13 February 2012.

I cannot control myself when it comes to reminiscing and reflecting on Seopyeonje. The moments and memories of G.O’s Korean musical stage debut have imprinted and left their mark on me. I have recently been revisiting many of the Dong Ho specific songs from the musical and started rewatching videos from the 3 March 2014 showcase, particularly G.O’s performance of 흔적 [Traces]. Even though I understood the premise and storyline of Seopyeonje, I never really explored the lyrical content of the songs. When I attended my first Seopyeonje performance, I did not need to understand the lyrics because I felt the meaning being conveyed. In looking a little closer at 흔적 now however, I have discovered a deeper poignancy in the song; and, there is no better master at delivering poignancy in a song than G.O. Today, I share another Vocal Virtuosity moment from Seopyeonje.
