As we near on the one year mark of G.O’s service, I have been wondering if I should do anything different for the final days here on the Countdown. I thought about scaling back a little and really making it simpler – as was my original plan until the series took on a life of its own. I keep telling myself that any little bit will still be amazing since, well…it’s G.O! So I think my best option is to just go with the flow and let the series decide ~ let the inspiration that G.O gives to me continue to be the barometer that dictates what I do and how I honor him during 2017, and that last month and two weeks in 2018. Sounds like a good plan, right? For today, Day 331, it’s a Fan-Camming Friday and I wanted a cam that was a little more recent. My choice is some G.O-focused Mirror from MBLAQ’s June 2015 Showcase.

When I first started One Shot days, my entire point of them was to share one picture or one .gif. Over the course of almost one year now (yes……….we are literally closing in one year of G.O’s service being completed), I have bent and stretched and violated my own rules but all with good intention for sometimes one picture is simply not enough. Today, I will stay within the parameters of my One Shot rule book. One picture. One smile. One lovely capture of one handsome and amazing man.

Although hours, days, months and years may pass and the spring of 2014 become more and more of a memory, the one constant that will always bring me back to those amazing days will be G.O’s voice. Yes, the voice that captured my heart and imprinted itself upon my soul. Because the first time I was introduced to G.O’s voice live upon any stage was through Seopyeonje, I find myself revisiting the music and the moments of the musical over and over. Today, the sweet and achingly beautiful 연가 [Sonata].

We all must agree that sometimes the suits/clothing style our gorgeous music men in absolute quality had to wear were sometimes a bit extravagant and somewhat loud. I realize that on a stage, images and even the artists themselves must appear larger than life. It is all part of the entertainment process and I understand that completely. Still, I love the easy comfort of button down shirts, some times with a jacket, sometimes not, with dress slacks as seen during Mirror, or those amazing suits our men wore during the Broken era. A quiet sophistication. However, I am not going to deny how fantastic and sexy G.O looked at the Lotte World Public Broadcast show on 25 February 2012 in that vibrant red and black ensemble.

I know that G.O has quite of bit of down time during the song Scribble but it certainly is not going to deter me from wanting to watch and/or share a focused fan cam of him during that song. In fact, I rather love watching him get lost in the music in the interim moments when he is not singing, often time smiling and waving to fans ~ connecting. But when he does sing, it is heartfelt and a truly blissful watch. Our Fan-Camming Friday dish served today is from a May 2012 performance at Busan Catholic University. Let’s get lost with G.O, shall we?

그래도 피할 순 없어
Love is a cold temptation, still I cannot avoid it.

Most of the time when I listen to G.O sing, I honestly do not feel the need to fully understand the lyrics and the reason being is that his interpretations, his feelings, emotions, passion, heart and soul generally tell the story without a need for translation. However, I admit that understanding what he is singing about adds a greater and more powerful dimension to the song. One of the songs G.O chose to sing for his last stage before departing for military camp was 사랑은 차가운 유혹 [Love Is A Cold Temptation]. It was the fourth song of his five song set last February at the I.Callist Idol Vocal Concert. It was tender. It was passionate. It was beautiful.

You know, in MBLAQ’s early debut days, I think many fans were misled by G.O’s mature, street saavy look with his cropped tossled hair and goatee, and were quick to label him a bad boy. I think if I would have discovered him in those early days, he would have had the opposite affect on me, for all I see is dreamy, handsome and sexy. With five members in the group, I know G.O was not always the focal point (amazing to me but true~^^); however, if fans paid attention (and there were many who did) to the incredible passion, strength, tone and beauty of G.O’s voice while getting lost in his expressive eyes while he sang, the truth of his tender and romantic heart would shine through revealing that his core was softer than any flower boy in Korean popular music at that time and probably still is. It is nine days before Christmas and Fan-Camming Friday. In anticipation of the holidays, I want to revisit the 24 December 2009 TBS Christmas Special and MBLAQ’s hyung line performance of My Dream with a cam focus on G.O . . . of course. I hope I survive this post. It is evident that G.O effortlessly pulls the proverbial emotional rug out from under me with the utterance of a single note, every time. Without fail. I think I have established that fact well before I began this countdown series. But when you factor in his smooth and quietly sensual style of any era, and particularly during the Sexy Beat era, he becomes more disarming. Lethal. It is Fan-Camming day – omg, I have a great idea. I will make every Friday a Fan-Camming day. Fan-Camming Friday. It has a nice ring to it. Ok, where was I? For Day 296, I noticed I had one notation in my countdown log and that was “find a G.O-focused cam performance of Cry.” I found one and it is from the 4 June 2013 Sexy Beat showcase. Please, proceed with caution.^^

Remember in those early debut days, the MBLAQ stylists seemed to want to layer G.O’s clothes and cover him up as much as possible? Maybe, just maybe, they were simply protecting the fans. Perhaps his kind of magnificence had to be unveiled slowly. I respect that decision, for G.O never had to resort to shirt-ripping, chest-baring moves to capture attention. Still, they could have styled him a little less layered, don’t ya think? Remember that extravagant feathered-sleeved jacket? The G.O One Shot for today will no doubt remind you.^^
