[News] This is NOT a Drill ~ GOT7 Comeback is HAPPENING

Even if I attempted with good intention and focus to catch up on the past year plus I have been away from blogging, I could not even begin to scratch the surface of everything I missed in K-poplandia! But I suppose if one thing was going to bring me out of fangirl semi-retirement, it was going to be my beloved and sorely missed GOT7. With Jay B and Jinyoung freshly discharged from their military duties, the men of G7 are wasting no time and are scheduled to make a comeback on January 20, 2025, with a new EP entitled, Winter Heptagon. To say I am excited is an understatement.

Waiting For Donghun ~ A.C.E 6th Anniversary (Day 608)

It is genuinely hard to believe that the charming men of A.C.E have to celebrate their 6th anniversary as enlistees!! But, here we are. I am trying to think of another group where every member was concurrently serving and, as a result, had to celebrate their debut anniversary while serving. The only one I can think of is ONF who all went in roughly on the same day. In any event, A.C.E came to us on May 23, 2017, and this year marks their 6th year together. I will use Donghun’s 608th day of service to commemorate and celebrate their incredible debut – hot pants and all – the energetic and meaningful Cactus.

Waiting For Donghun ~ A.C.E 5th Anniversary (Day 243)

We have reached another milestone in the Waiting For Donghun countdown and, in this instance, a rather auspicious day for both A.C.E and Choice. It is Day 243 but today also marks A.C.E’s fifth anniversary. We celebrate with joy, but do so somberly as four of our amazing five are currently on hiatus serving their country. For some reason, it feels right to celebrate with the artistic and moving Jindo Arirang (Prehistory). If you are even a fraction of the history nerd I am, you are no doubt fascinated by A.C.E’s take on this much revered and historically rich and moving Korean folk song.

Waiting For Donghun ~ Day 30

A couple weeks ago, I debuted the Pre-Debut DH series here within the countdown and talked a little about Donghun’s fateful beginnings as a contestant on the Korean music talent program Superstar K5. I mentioned then that Donghun did pass through the preliminary auditions to land in the top 100 and went on to compete. In fact, he eventually made to the finals, as in top ten. But here’s the twist, he landed in the top ten as part of the four member group, Plan B.

Playlist Roulette ~ Breathe 한숨 [Lee Hi]

I was wondering when the Strictly Korean playlist would shuffle out a song from a female artist because really, I do have quite a few contained on this playlist. I am rather pleased that the first pull for the new year is a female artist. Of course, I was not expecting to be hit in the feels this early after the year we have had, but in many ways, it is the perfect way to begin; and that is, to simply have Lee Hi tell us to Breathe.

On My Playlist ~ Paradise [TRCNG]

I never considered myself a person plagued by any kind of serious compulsive disorder but maybe I should rethink that when it comes to music. Heh. I admit that I often get fixated on an artist or group, or even genre when it comes to music. As a result, that fixation will keep me in a holding pattern where nothing else sneaks in for even a second. This can last for hours, days, weeks, even months. But then every so often, I move out of that compulsive mindset and just hit the shuffle button and let the music chips fall where they may. That happened this past weekend and I was pleasantly surprised when TRCNG’s Paradise shuffled its way out first.

On My Playlist ~ I’m In Trouble [NU’EST]

I know. I KNOW! It has been 8 years since Nu’est debuted. And I know I am coming to the party late. LATE! But the fact of the matter is, I am here and their latest release has my full attention. And once something catches my attention, the research begins and I travel back in time to become acquainted with something I probably should have checked out years prior. It’s how I roll lately. I guess I am a late K-pop bloomer but I am sure JR, Aron, Baekho, Minhyun, and Ren would be thrilled that I love the title track, I’m In Trouble off of their 8th mini-album, The Nocturne. It seems rather serendipitous don’t you think, that I am discovering Nu’est with such excited interest now in what is their 8th year with their 8th mini-album? The K-pop gods always have a plan!

On My Playlist ~ Remember [Winner]

If you were to ask me one word to describe the Korean group, Winner, I would say FAMILY. I would challenge anyone to show me a closer-knit group. To me, Winner has elevated past the general colleague-based relationship most professional groups have. Moreover, this feeling of family is not exclusive to the group itself. No. I think the group’s fandom Inner Circle would agree that it not only encompasses the relationship Yoon, Jinu, Hoon and Mino have with each other but, that it also extends further to their fans. Winner’s latest, the title track Remember on their newly released full album, brings the family together, soothes my fangirl heart, and waxes nostalgic in a way only Winner can.
