
It is difficult to come by definitive and clear facts regarding everything there is to know about Tykeys. And I suppose that is all well and fine because what we do have in way of pictures and video prove to me that they were an incredibly talented neo-soul R&B sensation that simply did not get the recognition they deserved. However bad the situation was when things ended for the group, it does not take away from the fact that they gave us some incredible music in one amazing album. For this 352nd day of G.O’s service, (and Fan-Camming Friday day), I share a moment of solo work from those early days. While I have been reserving the Retro Room for songs of days long gone by, indeed longer than three years, I felt the strong urge to make sure G.O’s beautiful performance of John Legend’s All of Me from the I.Callist Idol Vocal Concert back in February is filed securely here in the Retro Room among the others. Legend’s song was released in 2013, not very retro I know, but I bend my rules every now and then when I am compelled to share moments of G.O’s moving and poignant interpretations of songs that surely mean so much to him.
I had to check the news archives for Sunday, 28 August 2011, because I was convinced there was some kind of seismic event or change in the atmosphere with the level of sexy that was exploding from the Guro Gyeonnggi Public Broadcast stage that day. I am usually not at a loss for words when I write about G.O, but for this lovely Friday . . . two days before G.O’s 30th birthday, and the 261st day of his service, I will simply let him mesmerize us with movement captured and edited with sweet precision by letsgoinho.
