The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 554

I have never taken part in a variety show or sitcom live taping but would gather to say that it is probably a long process with many breaks, delays and takes in the action which probably make conditions ripe for mischief. Such was the case when our main vocal mischief maker had a little fun on the Star King set back on 17 January 2011. We really are quite fortunate that G.O engages with his fans with the level of comfort he does which, if you ask me, often seems more family familiar than fan familiar.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 553

말하지 말걸 [I Shouldn’t Speak] was the first MBLAQ ballad I completely fell in love with when I began my journey as an A+. You have to remember, I came to the party late and thus began purchasing their albums all out of sync relative to their release. I recall being captivated by the Mona Lisa concept with my newly established bias paying homage to one of my favorite actors, James Dean. I was quite intrigued. Mona Lisa was one of the first albums I purchased both physically and digitally. 말하지 말걸 [I Shouldn’t Speak] was the lone ballad on the album and it caught my special attention. Even though a solid group effort, G.O’s vocals tear at my heart. His voice in the studio version is perfection, filled with all the of longing, pain, and sadness that accompanies the end of a relationship. Hearing and watching G.O sing this song live however deepens the poignancy of the regret-laced lyrics that he brings to heart-wrenching life with every note. A Vocal Virtuosity moment today from the Curtain Call stage back on 30 November 2014. Sigh . . .

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 552

I woke up this morning with Broken on my mind. The Broken era still remains very bittersweet. And when I push aside what still aches in my heart from 2014, I am overcome with the sweet from that era. The masterpiece of an album MBLAQ delivered and the maturity and sophistication they settled so comfortably into really is unmatched when you place them side-by-side their contemporaries. No group (in my opinion) comes close. And while it is true that theirs may have been a story wrought with some sadness, it will never tarnish or take away from their incredible evolution collectively as a group and even more importantly, as men and individual artists. My One Shot today comes in .GIF form, a moment from the Broken showcase and the provocative, 남자 답게 [Be A Man].

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 551

It is 21 August and G.O has given us ten updates for this month alone with his latest coming last night. Once again from the sweet sanctuary of his studio, G.O proved what I have believed since I fell under his spell: he radiates and glows with his very own special light. Or maybe he was standing a little too close to the studio lights when he snapped the selcas.~😘

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 550

Sometimes I find simple delight in the shortest and perhaps more obscure moments of MBLAQ’s (and specifically G.O’s) past. As I have mentioned before, one of the best parts of doing this countdown series to help pass the days of G.O’s military service has been being able to go back and dig into the MBLAQ archives to remember the fun, the music, and the moments. Today I am digging into the J-Files because I want to share a brief moment from September 2012 when G.O turned choreographer to help teach MBLAQ’s Baby U! choreography to the host of the Japanese show, Hallyu Factory.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 549

It was a chilly and mild day in Seoul when G.O and his MBLAQ brothers took leave to Tokyo on 5 December 2013 for their Global Sensation Encore show. Sporting a jet black beanie and matching face mask, G.O was all casual, cozy and comfort as he made his way through Gimpo. And while it is true that the studded hi-tops he was wearing made his ensemble pop, my favorite thing he wore that day were his warm (and gorgeous) eye smiles.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 548

There are days when G.O is almost too much man for my fragile female heart to endure. Really, at this point after four years of diligently admiring him you would think that I would have built up some resistance. What I am learning however, is that there is no armor or weaponry strong enough to help ward off G.O’s magnetism. It is simply impossible. That point is further driven home with incredible force when I come across cams that capture his extremely potent charisma (which is pretty much every capture). It is Fan-Camming Friday and for today, I thought we could head back to November 2013 and a clip of the aggressive and powerful 다시 [Again] from MBLAQ’s Sensation Tour, Taiwan edition.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 545

When I made the decision to do this countdown series I remember telling myself that I would mostly post pictures with occasional videos. My goal was to just memorialize each day because in the back of my head, I knew 730 days meant 730 posts and to be quite honest, I wasn’t sure I was up to the task. I figured posting a picture a day would not be overly demanding and I would be able to honor G.O each day as he completed his service. It seems I am incapable of restraining myself when it comes to G.O. So whenever I come to a G.O One Shot day, I am reminded of my original plan and just smile. Best laid plans, right? My last One Shot picture was from The Black Pearl. I share another from that series today.
