I cannot believe it took almost 200 days before I decided to write about G.O’s first solo single, 내꿈에 서라도 [Even In My Dreams], the tender and romantic ballad he wrote and composed that was released in July 2011. In that I always want to celebrate G.O’s music as well as his writing and composing skills, I am surprised I waited this long! Well, it is a Sunday and so it goes that something light and romantic should be the main course of the day.

The beauty of deciding to let G.O pretty much commandeer my blog for the length of his military service (and I suspect well beyond), is that I have had the pleasure of connecting with many of his dedicated and long-time fans. Debut fans are a wealth of knowledge which have been a godsend to me in that their MBLAQ-lopedic minds continue to introduce and re-introduce G.O to me as if I am meeting him for the very first time, over and over. It’s the best kind of Groundhog’s Day!!

It has been awhile since I raided the Hello Baby archives for a post so I decided to choose a random episode to have some fun with on this 190th (OMG….!) day of G.O’s service. I chose Episode 7 which as you may recall, was the episode wherein the MBLAQ appas decided they needed a mother for the children. This ep introduced five potential mommy candidates who, according to the appas, needed to possess four very important traits in order to be considered for the position (G.O offering the first two…lol!): 1. Beauty. 2. Beauty. 3. Wealth. 4. Some childcare knowledge. *smh* <~~~~ And vigorously so!! <hehe>

Thirteen seconds. A thirteen second guest spot. That is all we got. Even though the thirteen seconds G.O spent on the Inkigayo stage on 12 February 2012, guesting on Sunny Hill’s 베짱이찬가 [Grasshopper] were short, he still managed to give us an equal balance of sweet and sexy amid the soft sounds of his honey-laced voice.

I have been enjoying the exploration of G.O’s many endorsements and know I have not even scratched the surface of realizing them all. What is most enjoyable is that in seeking out endorsements, it often leads to more than just a mere peek at the product being featured. This is a good thing in that it expands the material available to share and invariably takes my thoughts to other more substantial facets of his style. An artist’s style is most definitely an extension of his art. On the surface today it may look like I am taking a look at some of G.O’s jeans endorsements when in fact, I really would like to simply look at his denim style.

The one thing that doesn’t change
is that you are breathing as you live in my heart.

Okay…..I love this line in Nassun and G.O’s digital single One. What is even better is that the line is delivered vocally by G.O and not buried in one of Nassun’s rap stanzas in the song. Nothing against rap…no, I am totally amenable to it, especially when it is being intertwined, encircled and embraced by G.O’s sweet voice. That line is simply one that aches for a sweet voice to sing it, even if not contained in a ballad, but in a pop/rap tune. G.O is the perfect choice and probably only sounded sweeter in Damiano’s No Diet or MBLAQ’s You’re My A+.

When I decided to take this daily journey counting the days served of G.O’s military service, I knew that there would be a wealth of G.O moments I would be able to write about and share. Admittedly, I would have loved to kept it primarily focused on his music. But in a way, that would do him a bit of a disservice. Even though G.O would probably describe himself a musician (and specifically, a vocalist) first and foremost, his time spent on the musical stage, small screen (and soon, big screen) as well as MC duties and his many appearances on variety programs offer us a window to the vast and infinite facets of his incredible talent. And then, there is his charm, which is always in overflow mode. But it was completely off the richter scale in Episode 41 of KBS2’s Invincible Youth.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I am getting excited over the fact that G.O will soon hit 200 days served of his military service. Considering he started at 730, I think it is safe to say that we are finally seeing some serious movement of time! Well, I know for some it still seems like an eternity until he is discharged. Be patient as he will be back with us soon enough. And, he has been faithfully giving us clandestine updates by way of changing his Twitter and Instagram profile pictures. What more can we ask for when he is keeping steady contact?

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 184

I think about 바람의나라 [The Kingdom of the Winds] often. I think about G.O ‘s incredible performance in the short and powerful run the show had back in May 2014.  I think about how important the role of Prince Ho Dong was for him and in many ways, how it most likely helped pave the way for other potential idol-turned-musical actors to be cast in a Seoul Arts Group production. I think about it all with incredible awe and fondness. And, I think about how special each curtain call must have felt for G.O when he stood upon the CJ Towol Theatre stage being appreciated for his courageous and tender performance.
