The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 110

It has been one year. One year since the men of MBLAQ stepped onto their first stage as a trio at Omiya Sonic City in Saitama, Japan. I think back on those two very important performances and am filled with so many emotions, still. I told you I was the sentimental type. Nevertheless, I remain so very grateful to have been there to support G.O, Seung Ho and Mir, and on this 11oth day of G.O’s service, commemorate the anniversary of that very special day.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 109

As much as I am missing G.O these days, I am at least grateful that Hello Baby is filled with so many adorably sweet and entertaining moments of him to look back on and enjoy. I am relatively confident I will be able to eke out quite a few more of those moments over the course of these next 622 days. Remember the Bibimbap Song?

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 106

The truth is so immersed in my heart . . .

After a seven month hiatus from the Immortal Song 2 stage, G.O returned on September 8, 2012, to sing Choi Sung Soo’s 후인. Borrowing the Latin flavor from Sung Soo’s 1988 original, G.O’s version stripped away the cha-cha beat, slowed it down and added a hauntingly lovely Spanish guitar. The stage was set for G.O to begin romancing the audience. Maybe it is just me, but I think you might agree that adding a Spanish guitar to a song immediately creates romance.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 105

The further time moves away from March 2014, the tighter I seem to hold on to the memories of all the moments leading up to G.O taking the Korean musical theater stage for the first time in Seopyeonje. The excitement of opening night was growing and news of the musical was everywhere. The promotions and interviews he took part in as a result of being cast in the musical were many both before and after the musical opened. An idol cast in the role of Dong Ho in this masterpiece musical was a first. G.O stepping out on to the Korean musical theater stage was also a first.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 104

As much as I honestly believe in my heart of hearts that G.O deserves and should record a solo album (if it is his dream or wish), he is and will always remain an amazing and powerful component in a group or duet. I wrote about his duet work in my 116 Reasons series and included his work with Brown Eyed Soul’s Jung Yup. When I look at the list of G.O’s duets over the course of his career, I’d have to say MNet’s A-Live performance of You Are My Lady is probably my favorite of G.O’s duets (if I am looking at his work outside of the parameters of either Tykeys or MBLAQ, that is).

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 103

I guess you can call me sentimental. Two years ago today I experienced my very first MWave online meet and greet with MBLAQ. I was working long hours in New Orleans that week for my job, and did not think I would be able to stay awake long enough to watch the show. Scheduled at a decent 2:00 PM KST hour, that translated to midnight my time. But the moment I saw G.O with his hair freshly sheared, goatee-d in a fedora wearing a t-shirt with the goddess Venus de Milo on the front of it (a definite shout out to his goddesses), I was wide awake and ready to watch the fun begin.
