The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 569

Beauty is not caused. It is. ~Emily Dickinson

I cannot deny it, nor will I ever deny that there are days when G.O pushes me past the brink of fangirl reason straight into fangirl frenzy. Fangirl frenzy. I know each fangirl is unique. I am a later model fangirl due to my advanced age and delayed entry into the fangirl arena. However, there are moments when G.O has made me forget all about my age, fangirl parameters and decorum transporting me back to my teens awkward and trembling with excitement as I watch him perform. I have talked about G.O’s subtle yet powerful stage presence. His talent will always make him shine even on a stage filled with dense choreography, pyrotechnics and other people. And when G.O wears white his power and presence seems to become even more unmistakeable. The KBS event in Gwangju on 14 October 2010 is a wonderful example, escorts me into fangirl frenzy mode, and is my choice for this Fan-Camming Friday offering.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 568

It is impossible for me to keep this One Shot to just one single picture today, but I am sure you will not mind. I have broken my One Shot rule many times before and as we get closer to discharge, I have a feeling any and all rules and parameters I have set for myself here during this countdown series will continue to be broken, bent or even completely ignored. It’s all good.^^

I came across a few shots of G.O during his first solo stage of 2015 when he performed in Gimhae and could not decide which one I liked the best when all are equally beautiful. You all know how I feel about seeing G.O lost in song. Yes, well . . . for today then, a multi-shot one shot.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 558

Kinetic comes from the Greek word kinētikos, meaning “of motion,” which in turn traces to the verb kinein, meaning “to move.” If you have been a friend of the blog since G.O commandeered my every thought, you will have likely come across my discussions about how music moves through him as he performs. Even if he would consciously try to prevent it, I think it would be fruitless. When I watch G.O perform, music becomes as visible and tangible as it is auditory moving through his body and exiting in a symphony of sound that is harmonious and full of passion.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 555

If you have been taking this countdown journey with me these past 555 days (and even visited well before then), you know how much I love to talk about G.O’s beauty ~ both inner and outer. Yeah, it is pretty much a mainstay here mostly because I never grow tired of talking about it, and also because he consistently gives me reasons to celebrate his gentle but ever potent beauty. I know I have become redundant but still, it will never stop me from saying it one more time! Maybe I need to create a new vocabulary or language designed just for him you know, to spice things up. How very Tolkien of me! That sounds too complex actually and I rather like to keep it simple! Today is a Fan-Camming Friday day and I decided I am going to keep it short and simple on the cam end, but supplement the post with a bounty of G.O’s beauty captured at Music Bank Hong Kong on 23 June 2012.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 548

There are days when G.O is almost too much man for my fragile female heart to endure. Really, at this point after four years of diligently admiring him you would think that I would have built up some resistance. What I am learning however, is that there is no armor or weaponry strong enough to help ward off G.O’s magnetism. It is simply impossible. That point is further driven home with incredible force when I come across cams that capture his extremely potent charisma (which is pretty much every capture). It is Fan-Camming Friday and for today, I thought we could head back to November 2013 and a clip of the aggressive and powerful 다시 [Again] from MBLAQ’s Sensation Tour, Taiwan edition.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 540

I know I have barely scratched the surface of seeing every picture or video captured of G.O performing. And I know that what I have shared here to date is nothing new or different. Nothing you have not seen or watched before. So I really must thank you for indulging me. Hopefully the reminiscing has been enjoyable. And who knows, maybe I have dug up something you may not have seen or at best, have not seen in a good long while! Today I have a little Windows To Your Soul ~ The G.O Eye Connect moment from MBLAQ’s 28 February 2012 Seoul Art Technical College Orientation performance. I have to be honest, it kind of had my heart racing a bit.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 534

Happy Friday! Are any of you having difficulty wrapping your brains around the fact that it is now August 2017 and the year (the second and final of G.O’s military service) is more than half over?! It is off the charts exciting because we are soon to have G.O back. In all honesty though, he really has done well in making us feel as if he has not even been away. For real, right? His countless survival reports have remedied any pain and longing we may have felt over the course of these 534 days. He has been amazing at keeping in contact. We are so lucky. We are also lucky in that he has left a robust trail of pictures, cams and performances that have kept us (well, at least me anyway) satiated while we hunger for his return. This would include today’s offering from the Blaq Style days. Oh my . . . when G.O asks you to stay in his heart and also pleads for one more try, he means business.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 517

He probably would disagree, but I think G.O singing a song entitled ‘Superstar’ was telling of his own artistic trajectory in Korean popular music. It had to have been an amazing moment back in October 2009 for the young vocalist to be singing the Luther Vandross version of The Carpenters’ hit at Rain’s Legend of Rainism show. This was basically a debut solo stage for G.O as MBLAQ’s main vocal. A solo stage in front of Rain’s fans singing a Western song in English no less. Mind-blowing! G.O singing Superstar has Vocal Virtuosity written all over it; but instead of sharing the cam from the actual stage performance, I am opting for the rehearsal clip because it is 1:12 minutes of sweet vocal magic.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 513

As I sit down to write my 513th post of this series I am even surprised by my own perseverance. Then I consider the subject and realize there will never be enough time to say all that I would want to say and share about this amazing bias of mine. Oh I am sure the number of eye rolls exceed the number of days thus completed but I will not waiver in my support. I knew that when G.O made his mark on me back in April 2014, I was in it for the long haul. I have loved every moment of this journey. In looking over my countdown log, I note that it has been some time since I gave Mirror some love. All of the sudden I had this incredible urge to see some G.O-focused cam of him performing Mirror. So back we go for this Fan-Camming Friday to early August 2015 when our trio performed at the KT Wiz Civic Supporters Festival.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 507

There are a million ways in which I could show you how humble G.O is. But you really only need to meet him to experience it. In my opinion, humbleness is something that cannot be faked. It is either a part of who you are, or it is not. Some may mistake humbleness as self-doubt or low self-worth. But being humble is different. Markers of self-doubt or self-worth might include phrases like, I can’t or I am not good enough. Whereas I believe humbleness may be marked by phrases such asI will work harder or I will learn and improve, even in the wake of accolades. G.O has been told countless times from fans, contemporaries, producers, directors, and the like that he possesses a unique and special talent; yet he always reminds us that he will try harder or do better. This could not have been better demonstrated than when he received the 8th Korean Musical Awards award for best newcomer actor for his portrayal of the tragic young pansori artist Dong Ho in Seopyeonje.
