The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 38

There are a myriad of reasons as to why I believe G.O should pursue acting (in addition to his music) and I have touched on a few of those reasons here in previous posts. I am certain to repeat those reasons a few times. This is not because I am forgetful. No. It is because I want to keep subliminally encouraging him to consider more acting roles once he  completes his military service, if he is so inclined!

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 37

In December 2009, Rain took his five talented protégées to Japan to introduce them to his Japanese fans. And thus began Japan’s love affair with the glorious men living in absolute quality. The really amazing part of this moment in MBLAQ’s history was that MNET Japan decided to document the group’s first visit to Japan for their 2010 K-Pop Star Series. In the documentary entitled Yo! Tokyo, fans were able to get to know a little more about MBLAQ from the men themselves. For me, however, the sweetest revelation in this documentary was watching G.O own the fact that he pulled rank as the member of MBLAQ most favored by the more *cough* mature fan base.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 36

On the eve of his enlistment, G.O spent about a half hour in a chatroom at MBLAQ’s Daum Cafe saying good-bye to his A+ while simultaneously drenching them with his ever-present gratitude. He also said something that gave us all pause. Something probably none of us never in our wildest of dreams would think he would ever say: After two years time, I may not return as an active singer. Unfathomable, right? Well, if after two years he still has some reservations about returning, I would ask him to reflect on the evening of May 29, 2007, and maybe rethink that statement.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 34

Playful. Flirty. Engaging. Charming. These are just a few words I would use to describe G.O’s second visit to the Immortal Song 2 stage on July 2, 2011. It was 80’s pop singer Min Hae Kyung night and G.O stepped out on the stage in a gorgeous white tux and reminded me of what it might have been like to be in a NY supper club watching Frank Sinatra and his Rat Pack tear the place up with music, mischief and a whole lot of swag. I LOVE this performance!

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 33

I admit that I am a Mirror and Sexy Beat girl when it comes to my favorite MBLAQ albums. HOWEVER, I will never (ever) deny that MBLAQ’s sixth mini album Broken deserves masterpiece status.  It squeezes itself up there with those other two because its amazingness will not and cannot be denied. Neither will the powerful and seductive visual of the exquisite jacket flip that showed up in the MV choreography for the hit single, 남자답게 [Be A Man].

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 32

While it is true that the bulk of the story in Seopyeonje was dark and tragic, there was definitely one moment of levity in the musical where G.O’s Dong Ho overflowed with a playfulness that was matched only by the resplendence of his smile. It was a moment of reprieve for both G.O and the audience from the early scenes of anguish and left the impression that the future looked bright for his troubled pansori-turned rock star character.

I want to touch people with my art. I want them to say ‘he feels deeply, he feels tenderly’.~ Vincent Van Gogh

Sometimes I would like to be able to say….’Remember all of those radio show appearances MBLAQ made in the early days following their debut?’ and then magically scan my brain for a specific date, or show, or song performed and pull it out of thin air to share. But I can’t, because I don’t remember. See, I came to the MBLAQ party late and missed out on so much. Still, I am fortunate because so many of those moments were captured on video, and those videos were subsequently uploaded somewhere in the vast cyber wasteland known as the internet! And, I have wonderful A+ to guide me (thank you for this one, M~)!

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 29

I would imagine that if you are a business owner you would welcome the idea of having a celebrity endorse your product. It stands to reason that (1) the celebrity will expose your product to a wider audience, may (2) enhance the credibility of your product which will then result in (3) potentially higher sales. If G.O is your chosen celebrity endorser, you will get the added bonus of simply having your product look good.^^
