The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 138

One of the first things I became aware of after G.O successfully abducted my heart was his uncanny ability to lock in on cameras in the audience from the stage with eagle-eyed precision. Every camera was a magnet and he, the steel. Early on I admit to being envious of those fans on the receiving end of those appreciative glances and penetrating gazes.

In The Event Of An Event

I am finding that the more I continue to write about MBLAQ’s G.O, the more nostalgic I become remembering how I came to the MBLAQ fandom which in turn makes me reminiscent about many things, including the package events. I think about those events often. Although I almost always have very fond memories, there are still times I regret having done them at all. I have learned that overall people (and this is certainly not specific to our fandom) know how to take, but rarely do they know how to receive. It’s tricky. The receiving thing. I think many of us are not particularly comfortable in receiving, feeling undeserving or ineligible. Perhaps it is because some have primarily been givers that it becomes difficult to navigate the emotions of gratitude that flood our hearts when we are on the receiving end of anything be it words, physical gift, or even assistance. I understand because I, too, have trouble receiving. But, I am getting better at it. I have found that in giving I receive more than I could ever want for in a thousand lifetimes, and that has helped me become a better receiver.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 136

Today, I would like to open the door to the Retro Room once again and listen to G.O sing one of my all-time favorites of his English cover songs, WildflowerWildflower, a quintessential love ballad, is going to be the gift that will keep giving here as G.O has covered it so many times over the course of his career. The individual performances in and of themselves will be well worth revisiting, one at a time.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 135

There was something very regal, majestic and somewhat medieval about the jewelry and accessory designs of Macos Adamas. The crowns. The swords. The shields. Very King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table! Inasmuch as no one was going to replicate the style and status of Chrome Hearts, many young Korean artists, actors, and performers were still happy to endorse and wear the many eclectic and stylish pieces of jewelry and eyewear Macos Adamas was offering. Including that handsome young knight above.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 134

When music chose G.O it was most likely with the understanding that he would not be limited to only singing. It was going to be full immersion which included writing, composing and arranging. Thankfully, there are many avenues an artist of his caliber can take when music becomes his life force. The OST is indeed one of those avenues. And ok. it may have been helpful that G.O’s bandmate was cast in Iris II, but I believe 바보같 은나 [What A Fool I Am] would have landed on its OST (or any other, for that matter) because not only is it perfect OST material, it is simply a well-written song.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 132

Today marks G.O’s 132nd day of service which puts him officially under 600 days remaining! Yes, it may seem insignificant in the grand scheme of things but each day completed is another day closer to discharge and that makes me happy. To celebrate this small milestone, I want to honor G.O, the composer. On this 132nd day, I ask you Byung Hee, R U Ok?
