The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 326

We all must agree that sometimes the suits/clothing style our gorgeous music men in absolute quality had to wear were sometimes a bit extravagant and somewhat loud. I realize that on a stage, images and even the artists themselves must appear larger than life. It is all part of the entertainment process and I understand that completely. Still, I love the easy comfort of button down shirts, some times with a jacket, sometimes not, with dress slacks as seen during Mirror, or those amazing suits our men wore during the Broken era. A quiet sophistication. However, I am not going to deny how fantastic and sexy G.O looked at the Lotte World Public Broadcast show on 25 February 2012 in that vibrant red and black ensemble.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 321

As time continues to move further away from the year 2007 – a year that I am going to deem remarkable in and of itself simply because the world formally met G.O and his gorgeous vocal artistry that year, I continue to hold on to every note and every lyric seared into tape then expertly produced in the form of Ty Project No. 1. I cannot and will not let go. The music is too good and the vocal synergy between G.O and Baek Su Kyung far too perfect to store away and forget. As such, I choose a moment, almost ten years old now, for this 321st day of G.O’s service, a vocal virtuosity moment where he and Su ripped into Alicia Keys’ If I Ain’t Got You on Nam Kyung Yeon’s radio show back on 2 June 2007.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 278

Nuance. It has become one of my favorite buzz words used often when I describe G.O. From the subtle tones and inflections in his voice when he sings, to the expression in his eyes or even a move or shift in the way he tilts his head, dances, is photographed, or speaks. Little things that may not seem obvious, but (for me) somehow capture a mood, a moment, or characteristic that is exclusive to him. As is clear there is so much about him that I adore, why not have a little fun exploring those nuances that further endear him to so many of us.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 202

When I sat down to write this post, it was midnight and I had had a glass of wine. For those reasons (and probably others) I found G.O’s saunter through Gimpo Airport on 4 December 2011 rather sensuous. Maybe it was the beanie/hoodie combination with the dark glasses. Or perhaps it was just the way he seemed to be gliding as he walked. Or, how about the soft smile on his perfect lips? Whatever the reason, G.O makes a simple walk through the airport a seismic event for the senses and the perfect choice for a Fan-Camming day here on the blog.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 181

Although a classic break up song, there was still something very sweet about G.O singing a little bit of the chorus to Ne-yo’s So Sick at the SBS Tenten Club Public Broadcast on 14 February 2011, even if it was Valentine’s Day! I would be hard pressed to be sick of any love song on that day and even more reluctant to turn away from a song (break up or otherwise) sung by G.O. Just sayin’. I love that G.O revived a little of the song at the Tenten broadcast since it has most likely been a song on his personal playlist for some time. He covered it way back in his Tykeys days. So on this 181st day of his service, I am setting the dial to the Retro Room station to revisit G.O’s cover of So Sick.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 24

A good song will always stand the test of time. This is something that G.O understands explicitly. His penchant for tender ballads written and recorded well before he was even a glint in his parents’ eyes is proof that the soul that resides in him has most probably been here before, and has felt love and loss, often.

[series] 116 Reasons to Love Byung Hee: #11 ~ It Takes Deux

Duet. A performance by two people, especially singers. Two voices locked in perfect harmony, emotion and delivery. But, it is more than that. In a July 2012 interview with ABC News about sharing the stage with another vocalist in a duet, R&B singer Robin Thicke summed it up nicely when he said:

“It’s not about singing with perfect pitch or timing, it’s about feeling. All art is supposed to create feeling and if you sing with passion and you sing from your soul then people will feel it.”

People will feel it. I think he was talking about G.O, right? There is perhaps no truer way to describe the type of vocalist G.O set out to become and thus accomplished: A vocalist who sings with passion from the soul. Indeed. It may seem that all of the passion, emotion and feeling he brings to a song could not possibly be tempered (or matched) when partnered in a duet. I assure you, however, there is something special about the way G.O settles into a duet and lends his passion, emotion and feeling to the dynamic. For me, this is yet another reason to love this very talented man and his incredible artistry as a vocalist.

[series] 116 Reasons to Love Byung Hee: #10 Another Cover to Love ~ Rise & Fall

Yes, this is the reason that just keeps giving! Actually, I think I am slacking a little bit. Another oversight on my part for failing to include this very early cover of G.O, along with his Tykeys band mates, performing the soulful Rise & Fall. Maybe I need to spend some time in fangirl detention.
