Just when I thought the bounty of updates G.O gifted us in the 18th month of his service had concluded, he launched an assault on our hearts. On the evening of 30 August, he pushed us clear out of any mid-week Wednesday blues and updated with not one, but two gorgeous selcas that, to be honest, are better than boyfriend picture could ever aspire to be. Ladies, show your boyfriends because this is how it is done.~^^

Even though it is not a Thursday, I have decided on a throwback moment for Day 560. Sure, I probably could have waited until tomorrow (Thursday), but when you think about it, every post of this countdown series is pretty much a throwback moment with the exception of the multiple survival reports and updates G.O himself has given us during his service that have been included here in this series. So every day, minus those, are throwback days. Today, I head back to a moment just prior to the release of MBLAQ’s second mini album, Y and G.O’s video message wherein he asks us to find and re-attach our necks which he is confident have fallen off during the long wait for MBLAQ’s Y album. Haaahaahaha….so cheeky!

Kinetic comes from the Greek word kinētikos, meaning “of motion,” which in turn traces to the verb kinein, meaning “to move.” If you have been a friend of the blog since G.O commandeered my every thought, you will have likely come across my discussions about how music moves through him as he performs. Even if he would consciously try to prevent it, I think it would be fruitless. When I watch G.O perform, music becomes as visible and tangible as it is auditory moving through his body and exiting in a symphony of sound that is harmonious and full of passion.

I kept the final picture from the Campus Job & Joy Magazine spread away from the One Shots for long enough and will offer it here today as a sweet Sunday gift on the countdown. May 2014 was such a glorious month for G.O. He was wrapping up his award-winning role in Seopyeonje and continued to light up the musical stage as the tender-hearted Prince Ho Dong in The Kingdom of the Winds. Campus Job & Joy was one of two magazine covers he graced that month and it yielded probably some of my all-time favorite magazine spread pictures of G.O.

If you have been taking this countdown journey with me these past 555 days (and even visited well before then), you know how much I love to talk about G.O’s beauty ~ both inner and outer. Yeah, it is pretty much a mainstay here mostly because I never grow tired of talking about it, and also because he consistently gives me reasons to celebrate his gentle but ever potent beauty. I know I have become redundant but still, it will never stop me from saying it one more time! Maybe I need to create a new vocabulary or language designed just for him you know, to spice things up. How very Tolkien of me! That sounds too complex actually and I rather like to keep it simple! Today is a Fan-Camming Friday day and I decided I am going to keep it short and simple on the cam end, but supplement the post with a bounty of G.O’s beauty captured at Music Bank Hong Kong on 23 June 2012.

I have never taken part in a variety show or sitcom live taping but would gather to say that it is probably a long process with many breaks, delays and takes in the action which probably make conditions ripe for mischief. Such was the case when our main vocal mischief maker had a little fun on the Star King set back on 17 January 2011. We really are quite fortunate that G.O engages with his fans with the level of comfort he does which, if you ask me, often seems more family familiar than fan familiar.

말하지 말걸 [I Shouldn’t Speak] was the first MBLAQ ballad I completely fell in love with when I began my journey as an A+. You have to remember, I came to the party late and thus began purchasing their albums all out of sync relative to their release. I recall being captivated by the Mona Lisa concept with my newly established bias paying homage to one of my favorite actors, James Dean. I was quite intrigued. Mona Lisa was one of the first albums I purchased both physically and digitally. 말하지 말걸 [I Shouldn’t Speak] was the lone ballad on the album and it caught my special attention. Even though a solid group effort, G.O’s vocals tear at my heart. His voice in the studio version is perfection, filled with all the of longing, pain, and sadness that accompanies the end of a relationship. Hearing and watching G.O sing this song live however deepens the poignancy of the regret-laced lyrics that he brings to heart-wrenching life with every note. A Vocal Virtuosity moment today from the Curtain Call stage back on 30 November 2014. Sigh . . .

I woke up this morning with Broken on my mind. The Broken era still remains very bittersweet. And when I push aside what still aches in my heart from 2014, I am overcome with the sweet from that era. The masterpiece of an album MBLAQ delivered and the maturity and sophistication they settled so comfortably into really is unmatched when you place them side-by-side their contemporaries. No group (in my opinion) comes close. And while it is true that theirs may have been a story wrought with some sadness, it will never tarnish or take away from their incredible evolution collectively as a group and even more importantly, as men and individual artists.
