The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 155

Can you imagine if every time you walked out of your house there was someone with a camera ready to point and click capturing your every move? I think about that when the lovelies of MBLAQ would go out on tour or need to travel for an appearance. Knowing that fans and/or press would be at the airport (foreign and domestic) to see them off (or greet them) had to have made them somewhat conscious of what to wear. G.O’s airport style was (and continues to be) comfortable, casual and so very cool.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 154

Lately, I have had the strangest feeling
With no vivid reason here to find
Yet the thought of losing you’s been hanging
‘Round my mind

I am sitting in the Retro Room tonight being serenaded by G.O accompanied by Seung Ho on piano with Stevie Wonder’s Lately, and the air has all of the sudden become extra heady and sweet. Seven months post-debut and the 87-Line joined forces on MNet Radio to give the world a little taste of what was to grow into a genuinely potent and creative partnership.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 153

Not a single day has passed since April 2014 when I have not thought at least once (and often more) about G.O and the musical Seopyeonje. Both he and the musical left an indelible and deep impression on me. I often long to go back to those moments when I was sitting at the Universal Arts Center Theatre waiting for the curtain to rise, waiting for G.O to take the stage. Waiting to be moved by the achingly tragic story about Song Hwa and her brother, Dong Ho.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 152

When Mirror promotions were cut short last July due to G.O battling laryngitis, fans grew hungry for our beloved trio while he convalesced. Ravenous, in fact. By August/September 2015, he was fully recovered and MBLAQ managed a couple of local concert appearances in South Korea before heading to South America in October. I absolutely adore when G.O grabs onto a fashion style and settles in. In late summer 2015, a stylish fedora was his fashion accessory of choice (which may or may not have had something to do with the fact that he shaved his head in early July). Nevertheless, he was stunning in that hat and pushed things to defcon 5 on the bias overload meter when he took the stage decked in black on September 17, 2015 at the Damyang World Bamboo Expo.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 151

When it comes to G.O, I honestly have no problem sounding redundant. I do not mind singing his praises over and over. It is one of those things that comes natural to me it seems. It makes me feel good to admire him so ardently. So I do not mind repeating (and re-repeating) how much I love when G.O pairs his gorgeous vocals along side a rapper. Primary seems to be in agreement.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 150

150 days served!! Ok, true, there are quite a few more to go, but I still love to celebrate each day completed as it means G.O is closer to returning. Now with maknae Mir enlisted and safely at training camp (it’s Day 2 for him), I feel like a beaming parent (er..uh wait, more like a thrilled older sister) full of pride and happy that 2/3 of MBLAQ are currently serving together. There is a sweet synchronicity of having our beloved wild brothers serving just 148 days apart from each other. So I think today, I just want to love on the brotherhood of G.O and Mir.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 148

I have stayed pretty distant from all things This Is War during the Countdown series because it is one of MBLAQ’s most iconic songs and one that is so intensely visceral that I quite honestly find it difficult to adequately write and talk about. The era alone in how they approached performing the song and the powerful visuals all five members displayed, from costuming to choreography, make This Is War an epic work of art.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 146

Imagine you are in your golden years, a grandma or grandpa, living quietly tending to every day life when a barrage of celebrities descend upon your small village with camera crew in tow. Imagine further that the celebs included members of MBLAQ. Even though it was a variety show that was perhaps comedic in nature, there was something also very endearing about MBC’s Hometown Variety Dreams & Fields.
