The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 517

He probably would disagree, but I think G.O singing a song entitled ‘Superstar’ was telling of his own artistic trajectory in Korean popular music. It had to have been an amazing moment back in October 2009 for the young vocalist to be singing the Luther Vandross version of The Carpenters’ hit at Rain’s Legend of Rainism show. This was basically a debut solo stage for G.O as MBLAQ’s main vocal. A solo stage in front of Rain’s fans singing a Western song in English no less. Mind-blowing! G.O singing Superstar has Vocal Virtuosity written all over it; but instead of sharing the cam from the actual stage performance, I am opting for the rehearsal clip because it is 1:12 minutes of sweet vocal magic.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 513

As I sit down to write my 513th post of this series I am even surprised by my own perseverance. Then I consider the subject and realize there will never be enough time to say all that I would want to say and share about this amazing bias of mine. Oh I am sure the number of eye rolls exceed the number of days thus completed but I will not waiver in my support. I knew that when G.O made his mark on me back in April 2014, I was in it for the long haul. I have loved every moment of this journey. In looking over my countdown log, I note that it has been some time since I gave Mirror some love. All of the sudden I had this incredible urge to see some G.O-focused cam of him performing Mirror. So back we go for this Fan-Camming Friday to early August 2015 when our trio performed at the KT Wiz Civic Supporters Festival.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 507

There are a million ways in which I could show you how humble G.O is. But you really only need to meet him to experience it. In my opinion, humbleness is something that cannot be faked. It is either a part of who you are, or it is not. Some may mistake humbleness as self-doubt or low self-worth. But being humble is different. Markers of self-doubt or self-worth might include phrases like, I can’t or I am not good enough. Whereas I believe humbleness may be marked by phrases such asI will work harder or I will learn and improve, even in the wake of accolades. G.O has been told countless times from fans, contemporaries, producers, directors, and the like that he possesses a unique and special talent; yet he always reminds us that he will try harder or do better. This could not have been better demonstrated than when he received the 8th Korean Musical Awards award for best newcomer actor for his portrayal of the tragic young pansori artist Dong Ho in Seopyeonje.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 506

Fridays are fabulous for so many reasons, wouldn’t you agree? For most they mark the end of the work week and the start of the weekend, and that would include our hard-working military man, Byung Hee. I am sure he treasures the reprieve of those two wonderful weekend days so that he can rest, relax and nurture his creativity. Fridays are fun for me because they are fan-camming days here on the Countdown. Granted, I have slipped in many a cam throughout the weeks on days other than a Friday. It happens. Many of my sub-categories crossover into each other. In any event, it is another Fan-Camming Friday and for today a little Mona Lisa from a performance back in October 2012 at Gwangju Songwon University.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 505

I am really quite grateful that there have been many western songs that have resonated with G.O to the point where he has revisited them on several occasions, letting us hear them more than once. In the early part of his career there were many songs from the Eric Benét songbook that captured G.O’s attention. Beautiful ballads crafted perfectly in melody and lyric that he artfully made his own by wrapping them in his own velvety voice. We have heard G.O sing Benét’s The Last Time a few times. I think his 8 December 2009 T-Store Live Session performance rises above the rest. I revisit it today as a sort of throwback Thursday moment remembering the poise, elegance and exquisite talent of this astonishing young man.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 499

So I had an idea of what I wanted to write about for today’s Fan-Camming Friday moment and then hit an indecisive wall, so to speak. My original choice for today was to revisit the Yeosu Pop Festival back on 5 August 2012. When I noticed that there was also ample reason to revisit the Asia Song Fest which was the day before Yeosu, I thought oh no ~ dilemma!! Then it occurred to me that I should just share both as we are at Day 499, the eve of another milestone: 500 days of service! I can think of no better way to begin that celebration than to inundate ourselves with G.O cam and pictures from these two wonderful performances.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 486

Because G.O is so incredibly sweet, gentle and kind, we sometimes can forget how wicked sexy he can be. Today’s G.O One Shot is a reminder that G.O’s kind of sexy is more powerful and lethal than he himself perhaps even realizes. But, I don’t mind having the chore of reminding him today. It is Day 486 or as I am going to call it: Super Sizzling Saturday.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 485

Where do begin for this Fan-Camming Friday? I had my heart set on one cam and then became totally undone when I found a different cam for a different song from the same show. It was then that I was promptly reminded that the 13-year old squealing fangirl that I thought had matured somewhat and settled into the fact that she was residing in a not so young anymore middle-aged woman, returned with a boisterous vengeance. It has been awhile since I watched a cam and screamed at the monitor the entire time but this is exactly what happened when I watched G.O rip into the fierce, flirtatious and fervid Oh Yeah back on 13 June 2010 in Iksan.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 448

It’s Wednesday and sometimes the middle of the week requires a pick-me-up to push us over the hump and into the back end of the week so that the stretch towards the weekend seems less distant. Come Wednesday, I am aching for the final days of the work week to arrive quickly so I can enjoy the freedom and relaxation of the weekend. Also, as each week completes, we get closer to discharge. Believe it or not, the finish line is closer than you think! To give this Wednesday a bit of a push, I thought we could collectively join G.O in a nine second dance break.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 437

Maybe because it is spring that I have been honing in on G.O’s sexiness as of late. I mean, he has always been sexy in my opinion and I have not shied away from stating that fact here ~ and quite often. But lately it seems to be getting mentioned frequently in my Countdown posts. Hehehehe….I suppose as spring continues to bloom making way for steamy summer, I will be compelled to share G.O’s special kind of sexy. Most of the time, it is quiet and sneaks up on you. Sometimes though, it is full on blatant. That kind, (the second kind) is quite prevalent in my G.O One Shot offering for today.
