I think I can forget you
I try to comfort myself like this
But after trying to get rid of these feelings again and again
My yearning for you is endless . . .
I have to wonder when G.O agreed to appear on the January 28, 2011 episode of You Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook, if he sat down with Hee Yeol and said, “I want to sing Kim Gun Mo’s 미련 [Lingering Affection],” or if it was decided by You Hee Yeol that he would, or perhaps the production team? My first inclination is to say G.O chose it because it is exactly the type of ballad our man with the golden voice has become a master at interpreting.
Quietly, with deep serenity and absolute sincerity, G.O dealt the audience a piece of his heart that late January evening. When a voice and piano come together, unified in respective and melodic sorrow, the impact of the song is that much more powerful.
Couple that with the aching look in G.O’s moist eyes, and the song soon becomes a heart-shattering event. Am I the only one who cannot make it through this song without crying? Gosh, I’m such a sap!!! The heartfelt lyrics wrapped in a tender melody sung by our ballad virtuoso has ‘will evoke intense emotion’ written all over it.
This song is so beautiful. I mean, truly beautiful. And its beauty is magnified by G.O’s gorgeous voice. I have to say in all honesty that since discovering this brilliant artist of a man, my heart has softened in ways I never thought imaginable. It is without question ballads like these, sung by him, that have been the key to my heart which he has so very successfully unlocked and has perpetually held captive since I surrendered it to him over two years ago.
It is an incredible lingering affection . . .
보고 싶어서 눈을 뜰 수가 없어
살아있는 순간조차 힘겨우니까
