I think one of the main reasons I love Broken so much is that the men of MBLAQ took the sensual vibe of Sexy Beat, let it mature like a fine wine and came back with sheer elegance and sophistication when they released their 6th mini album. With the smooth groove, 둘이라서 [Because There Are Two], I felt as if G.O was also maturing as a writer and composer. Coupled with that was his instinctive ability to call upon outside assistance from respected writers, composers and producers (Avengers and Radio Galaxi) to help take what was simmering in his melodically sound retro soul and give it cohesion and vibe.

It is day 209 of G.O’s service which is not so big to commemorate but certainly worth a sweet and delightful One Shot picture. For today I turn to the exquisite work of the mysterious Blackbird. Blackbird has had her camera affixed exclusively on G.O for some time and her work, in my opinion, is true art. She has consistently been able to capture nuances in G.O’s look, demeanor and mood like no other. From the playful to the absolute sensual, she has managed to capture it all. I am going to play it safe and will choose playful today.^^

It just occurred to me that I have not given myself any hard and fast rules about visiting The Retro Room here on the blog. I have set some guidelines with other posts like the G.O One Shots, and Fan-Camming, for example, but have not set any parameters for The Retro Room. This is fortuitous as I really, really felt like revisiting G.O’s gentle and heart-felt performance of The Eagles’ Desperado from the I.Callist Idol Vocal Concert back on 14 February 2016. That is, if my heart can weather the emotion in the wake of that remembrance.

Remember back on Day 183 I took a look at G.O’s various jewelry style and put a note to myself that I should plan a post about the various hats he has worn over the years? As is obvious, I decided not to wait too terribly long to have look and chose today to see why he is so very much at the head of his class when it comes to head-gear, and is indeed a milliner’s dream.

He may have been all of about twenty years old when Tykeys dropped their album Ty Project No. 1 in February 2007, but the makers, creators, producers and writers, knew full well that Byung Hee was vocally fit to handle a song or two on his own. He was given two on the album. I will give each equal time here but for this 205th day of G.O’s service, I feel like being wrapped in the gentle and warm embrace of 내가 아니라도 [Even Though It’s Not Me].

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 204

It was not difficult for MBLAQ’s charming main vocal to absolutely charm me into surrendering my heart. A single note sung, a soft smile, a warm handshake were all the ammunition he needed to seal his place as my one true and ultimate bias. When I watch old variety show appearances, my fate is further sealed. Why bother fighting the wave of his charm? Like many who claim G.O their bias, I am defenseless. As I continue to parse through his many show appearances, I am repeatedly reminded of his gregarious personality and charismatic screen presence. G.O’s moments captured on We Got Married Global with 2PM’s Taecyeon and Taiwanese actress Emma Wu was no exception. For this 204th day of G.O’s service, we’re going to the kitchen for some kimbap.^^

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 202

When I sat down to write this post, it was midnight and I had had a glass of wine. For those reasons (and probably others) I found G.O’s saunter through Gimpo Airport on 4 December 2011 rather sensuous. Maybe it was the beanie/hoodie combination with the dark glasses. Or perhaps it was just the way he seemed to be gliding as he walked. Or, how about the soft smile on his perfect lips? Whatever the reason, G.O makes a simple walk through the airport a seismic event for the senses and the perfect choice for a Fan-Camming day here on the blog.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 201

Special guesting is not all about lending a voice, at least for purposes of this Countdown series. Special guesting as an actor in a music video (without a single note sung or dialogue spoken) proves to be just as thrilling, especially when the actor is G.O. I admit seeing G.O in an acting capacity coupled with music (as in musical theater) is the ultimate. However, seeing him as the cad in Ailee’s 보여줄게 [I Will Show You] MV is devilishly delightful.
