Happy Monday everyone! Today marks G.O’s 600th day of service. That is 600 of 730 days are officially being completed at this very moment! What an exciting way to kick off the week. We are getting so close to discharge, can you feel it?~😁

It is Day 599 of G.O’s military service. I cannot believe that come tomorrow, he will be completing 600 of his 730 days. It is astounding how quickly the time has gone by. Maybe for some of you it feels like it has dragged but don’t worry, when you get to be my age it will speed up nicely for you, and then you will long for those days when it felt like it dragged! This is true. So we hit another milestone tomorrow and I am already celebrating. I cannot help it ~ I am getting very excited for his return. But, I still have 132 more days to fill here on the countdown, so I will try to keep my emotions in check. I am making it difficult for myself with today’s choice for our G.O One Shot. It is a .gif day and I decided on a moment from his small screen MV work with Ailee back in 2012 because quite frankly, G.O will show you . . . his eye gaze game is strong.

Have you ever looked an opal gemstone? They are so unique. It seems as if there is an entire separate world living within in the stone itself. It has movement and captures light in a translucent vivid way. Known as the ‘Eye Stone,’ opals are like lightening in a rainbow, flashing their brilliance even with the slightest movement. They are pleasing to the sight, a seductive stone associated with love, passion, emotion and desire. They are also considered to be an inspirational stone to artists who write, dance, sing and play music. But what has any of this to do with G.O? Well, we have reached the letter O of The ABC’s of G.O and my word choice has opal as its foundation. Yes, to me, G.O is like a brilliant opal, he is opalescent.

Do not let that mischievous and adorable smile up there fool you for one second into believing this is going to be a sweet cam offering for this Fan-Camming Friday. We all know how G.O’s intrinsic sweetness hits me hard, like sledgehammer-to-the-heart hard. With all of his recent updating, it has been sweetness overload – in a good way! So instead of simply adding to the sweet, I am going to about face and opt for the sexy. The overt, coming at you like a freight train sexy. If G.O asked you which one of his English cover songs you wanted him to either sing again and/or record but said you could only choose one, which one would you choose? That is such a difficult question as he has covered so many, and covered them well. I know I would have a difficult time making a choice. Really difficult. But I think if I had to choose just one, I would ask for Wildflower. Yes, even over Hurricane and any one of the other beautiful Eric Benét ballads he has covered. Even over Song For Your Tears which you all know is my kryptonite. Maybe it is because Wildflower has stood the test of time as an iconic ballad that has been successfully covered since it was written back in the 1970’s. It is gentle, melodic and the lyrics are simply beautiful. And think about it, which one of the many English songs has G.O consistently covered? Yes, Wildflower. He covered it as early as his Tykeys days, and as recently as January 2015. Clearly, it is special to him. Today, it makes its return in Vocal Virtuosity form, and a mere 27 seconds at that. Pure vocal heaven.

Here we are celebrating another Chuseok with our delightful enlisted music man and this year, he did not waste any time in updating by sharing this early Chuseok greeting last night. He also instituted a fun hashtag . . . #응추석 [Yeah, Chuseok] ~ so cheeky. Do you think we can get it to trend? In any event, the hint of a smile on his face is too sweet! And, he removed his face mask before capturing the shot. Double sweet! Chuseok is a very important high holiday in Korea and I am sure G.O will enjoy the extended days off from his public service duties to celebrate with family. Chuseok 2017 begins today and will be celebrated by our Korean friends around the world for the next three days. Please join me in wishing G.O and his beautiful family a very happy and healthy Chuseok.

It is without question the best of both worlds when we get to hear G.O sing while also simultaneously experiencing a little of his playfulness. Because he is so deeply dedicated to his craft, I think he often keeps the two separate. What I mean is, when G.O is singing he is perhaps in a completely different mind and heart space. He simply does not seem like the type to make light of his passion. But every now and then we can catch him mingling the two. I share a really quick playful moment today from the SBS Korean variety/comedy program, People Looking For Laughter.

There have been so many instances throughout this countdown series when I mentioned how much I believe G.O is a work of art all unto himself. After viewing so many pictures and yes, having the opportunity to see him up close and in person, I still hold this thought to be true. I have to give much credit to those who have captured him on film, specifically his loving fans. True, the subject matter (G.O, himself) is a great foundation to work from. And yes, timing, perfect light (or not), and camera settings help. Nevertheless, G.O provides the perfect canvas as a starting point and dedicated masternim MemenGO has captured to film many fine moments of our exquisite work of art main vocal man. Just a single One Shot for today on this 593rd day of his service.

I interrupt regular scheduling programming to bring you a well-overdue bromance moment. Yes, can you believe it has been over two hundred days since I last had a World According to G.OMir moment here on the countdown? I cannot deny that I have become increasingly sidetracked and have a tendency to overindulge on certain sub-categories, focused cams, pictures, .gifs and of course, G.O’s voice. It is the nature of this beast of a series. In a random search I came across a recording of one of the many visits G.O and Mir made to No Hong Chul’s Chin Chin Radio broadcast. As expected, never a dull moment with these two.
