The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 713

Absolute nostalgia is my choice for the G.O One Shot today, a picture from the Tykeys archives. Even though more than ten years have passed, little has changed about G.O. True, he is older and most likely wiser. The experiences of his life (good and not so good) have only added to the depth of his talent which continues to grow and evolve. And, perhaps has even added to the incredible depth that always seems present in his gorgeous eyes.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 405

While it is true that G.O has had a lot of experience being the younger brother, much of that experience comes from being the younger brother of two older sisters. Outside of perhaps his peers and well, yes of course, his brother-in-law, he has not been the younger brother to an older brother. And before you Seungholics start screaming that indeed G.O has been and is a younger brother, I will say that I see your point; but really guys, Seung Ho is only three weeks to-the-day older than G.O. I think those two perhaps view themselves on more of an equal playing field. Nevertheless, I believe with all of my heart that G.O views Seung Ho as a brother (and an older one at that) not only in the colleague/peer sense, but in a family sense. Where am I going with this you might ask? Well, since I have been showing Tykeys quite a bit of love as of late, I wanted to touch on an early younger/older brother experience. G.O was Tykeys’ maknae after all and Kim Hyun Jung indeed his hyung. When I look at early pictures of the two, as well as their overall dynamic, I am convinced G.O endeared Hyun Jung as a more than just a band mate, he was indeed family and yes, an older brother. The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 145

Golden moments. That is how I describe any and all Tykeys moments captured whether it be photograph, audio, video or otherwise. They are part of G.Os history and even if he disagrees, an amazing part at that. In the short time Tykeys spent promoting and performing before they disbanded, they left us with so much gold. The rare practice room videos are indeed treasured gifts and always wonderful to unwrap and enjoy time and again.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 79

There are moments when I really begin to think about everything G.O has been through in his career. He really has crammed a lot of experience in a short amount of years, when you think of it. During his time with MBLAQ from debut to the present, he (either solo or with the group) has had the opportunity to endorse many a product. But what I did not realize until very recent is that he endorsed (and/or modeled) for the Mito Shop clothing line when he was with Tykeys.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 36

On the eve of his enlistment, G.O spent about a half hour in a chatroom at MBLAQ’s Daum Cafe saying good-bye to his A+ while simultaneously drenching them with his ever-present gratitude. He also said something that gave us all pause. Something probably none of us never in our wildest of dreams would think he would ever say: After two years time, I may not return as an active singer. Unfathomable, right? Well, if after two years he still has some reservations about returning, I would ask him to reflect on the evening of May 29, 2007, and maybe rethink that statement.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 24

A good song will always stand the test of time. This is something that G.O understands explicitly. His penchant for tender ballads written and recorded well before he was even a glint in his parents’ eyes is proof that the soul that resides in him has most probably been here before, and has felt love and loss, often.

[series] 116 Reasons to Love Byung Hee: #10 Another Cover to Love ~ Rise & Fall

hqdefault

Yes, this is the reason that just keeps giving! Actually, I think I am slacking a little bit. Another oversight on my part for failing to include this very early cover of G.O, along with his Tykeys band mates, performing the soulful Rise & Fall. Maybe I need to spend some time in fangirl detention.

[series] 116 Reasons to Love Byung Hee: #6 – It’s A “Rap”

Reason 6 – It’s A “Rap”

When the fabulous five of MBLAQ met for the first time, Mir was convinced that G.O was slotted to be the rapper of the group. Little did he know that the man behind that cool urban swag actually possessed the velvet voice that was to become the group’s main vocal. I have to commend producer Rain for having the foresight he most certainly had to marry that very golden voice with the rap element he was firmly establishing in MBLAQ. Rain must have had his eye on Tykeys! The very cocktail of blending G.O’s sweet and delicious vocals with that of rappers Mir and Cheondoong proved to be a potent fortuitous recipe. In fact, pairing his voice with any rapper has proved to be magical. And this beautiful vocal synergy is another reason to love Byung Hee.
