It has been some time since I opened up the Sesame Player treasure chest of fun. I always love to go back and watch random episodes of that quirky variety show. Watching the off the stage antics of MBLAQ will always be the perfect remedy if you are feeling a bit blue. I guarantee that during any given episode, you will laugh. For Day 283, I decided to grab a clip from Episode 10 which I know most (if not all) of you will recall. Remember when Seung Ho, G.O, Joon and Cheondung played that pop the pirate out of the barrel game? Hehehe…just reading that makes me laugh. If you recall, in the final round of the game, the losers had the chore of using their talents to make the winner laugh. Remember? The winner was Joon and the winning laugh master was none other than G.O, of course!

I have to be honest, the first time I ever heard the term ‘trolling‘ was after I discovered MBLAQ. I had no idea what it meant and often wondered why fans would call G.O a troll or say he was trolling his MBLAQ brothers. Initially I thought it was a derogatory term but then realized that being called a troll or accused of trolling simply meant one took great pleasure in playfully, deliberately and often with great cleverness, instigating another. The operative word here being: playful. There is nothing wrong with a little playful trolling, right? Especially when executed by the mischievous and crafty, G.O.

I am still reeling a little bit from the Chapstick revival of yesterday so I kind of want to keep that feeling flowing on this G.O One Shot day, Day 281 of his service. Going back go A Lucky Day’s archives, I found some pictures from the Chapstick Party of 15 December 2010 at Konkuk University’s Saechoenyeon Hall. This one shot will defy all rules and become a five shot. You’re welcome.

The genius that is Korean advertising will never cease to amaze me. I think of all of the revenue that could be generated in the west if advertisers enlisted more artists to help endorse their products. True, there are plenty who do endorse, but not in the way or to the level of their Korean counterparts. A commercial film (CF) using the artists’ music is one thing. Building a story around the product and then dropping the artists into the CF creating an advertisement in the guise of a short film is a whole new level. Remember the liptasticness that was the MBLAQ Chapstick endorsement?

There was much sadness surrounding the recording and subsequent release of MBLAQ’s 7th mini album, Winter. This is undeniably true. That sadness however does not overshadow the absolute beauty of the four original tracks on the album and, in particular, the poignancy in the quiet and tender ballads contained therein. I love this album. Even when it breaks me with every listen. Even when I cannot hold back my tears. It is exquisite for it contains my favorite G.O-written and composed song 봄여 름 가을 그리고 . . . [Spring Summer Autumn And . . .]. For Day 279 however, I want to focus attention on another song from Winter, the Cheondung-penned 괜찮을 거란 그 말 [Words That Make It Okay]. I am on a Vocal Virtuosity tirade as of late because frankly, G.O needs more and continued recognition for his talent and artistry as a vocalist. Inasmuch as G.O’s voice is at its premier emotional best on all of the Winter tracks, his verse work, improvs and ad libs in 괜찮을 거란 그 말 are particularly noteworthy.

Nuance. It has become one of my favorite buzz words used often when I describe G.O. From the subtle tones and inflections in his voice when he sings, to the expression in his eyes or even a move or shift in the way he tilts his head, dances, is photographed, or speaks. Little things that may not seem obvious, but (for me) somehow capture a mood, a moment, or characteristic that is exclusive to him. As is clear there is so much about him that I adore, why not have a little fun exploring those nuances that further endear him to so many of us.

Yes, so I missed MBLAQ’s Japanese debut also. Sigh . . . It would have been a great way to celebrate my birthday month in May of 2011 as debuts bring all kinds of treasures. Those treasures manifest themselves in the form of a song, album, MV, live promotional appearances, even fan meets or fan signs. It would have been all kinds of birthday bliss. But alas, I arrived late. I still can relive the excitement though, right? MBLAQ debuted in Japan with Your Luv, a song I happen to think showcased G.O’s indelible voice and potent charm. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have G.O sing MBLAQ’s 낙서 [Scribble] directly to you? True, he does not have a whole lot of actual singing time, but that did not stop some of our amazing cam operators from taking their cameras off of him one second during the entire song. For Day 276, a Fan-Camming day here on the Countdown, let’s travel back to January 2012 for MBLAQ’s performance of the rhythmic and soulful 낙서 at the Gonjiam Farm Festival. It will be impossible to avoid the magic of this moment brought on by letsgoinho’s steady and focused cam, and G.O’s dreamy performance. Prepare yourselves.

It is Day 275 of G.O’s service!! Do you realize that in less than a month he will hit the 300 day mark?! If you had any doubts that time would actually move swiftly, think again. You have to agree with me when I say the days are flying by! Even G.O mentioned during his recent chat that the time was going by quickly. For 274 days I have been doing my best to make everyone fall for G.O. How am I doing? It’s One Shot .gif day today so I went and dug up a Mona Lisa era performance of 알면서 그래 [I Think You Know] and created a swoon-worthy .gif. Well, I think it is swoon-worthy!
