The thing I wish for the most for G.O, after insurmountable happiness, love and bombastic success of course, is that when he attends his first fan sign (either alone or with MBLAQ) post-military service, he regains the kind of excitement and happiness he experienced in fan signs of the past. You know, sort of like the Blaq% Coex fan sign on 29 March 2012, a focused fan-cam of which is the subject of today’s installment of Fan-Camming Friday.

We are on the eve of G.O’s 300th day of service. Why am I so excited about this?! It is not like he is being discharged tomorrow! I guess I am just one of those people who loves to celebrate the minor milestones as well as the major ones. I should not get ahead of myself. Ok….breathe. It is Day 299, a G.O One Shot day. I will preface this .gif offering by simply saying that should G.O ever decide to take up rhythmic gymnastics, he would not only do it reasonably well, he would be quite entertaining and indeed the highlight of the competition.

I know that as we near on 300 days of G.O’s service and, hence, 300 blog posts here on this Soulful Countdown, things can repetitive. As much as I have been dutifully trying my level best to keep things varied, I will never tire of talking about how much I appreciate the way G.O can pan an audience, pause and connect. There are many people who are simply unable to make eye contact. G.O does not strike me as one of those people. In fact, he is quite the opposite. Making eye contact is a form of communication, and a very intimate one at that. I think G.O understands this concept very well. When I look at old fan cams of showcases, fan meets and fan signs, I am always so taken with G.O’s genuine and often heartfelt appreciation of his fans. Never one to shy away from speaking, pranking or even fulfilling fans’ requests (no matter how absurd) and often without hesitancy or even protest, he truly is an artist who will go to great lengths to please us, always. If his talent and charm were not already enough, his gratitude and appreciation for his fans has no match. Yes, I am biased but I can also proclaim such based upon my own personal experiences. G.O’s playful affection caught back at the outdoor mini fan meet in March 2012 is the subject of Day 288 (the 1st day of December!) and another installment of G.O’s Fabled Fan Service.

Of course everyone remembers MBLAQ’s participation in the Idol Athletics, right? One part competition, one part fan service, and all parts entertaining. It seems G.O was always a willing and competitive participant. But he was always quick to engage and entertain the fans. It seems that the deeper I get into the Countdown series, the more sub-categories I discover. Quite simply, G.O’s fan service should have always been here, and shame on me for waiting this  long! To get started, I am going to keep this one short and sweet by taking a quick look at a moment during the 27 August 2011 Idol Athletics where G.O, along with Seung Ho took a bit of a dance break much to the delight of their fans.

I think if I were to sit down and begin writing a list about all of the things I love about G.O, I would not be able to complete it in the 504 days left of his service. Definitely high on that list would be his playful nature. I think following Curtain Call he lost much of that playfulness but I think his recent appearance in Mir’s chatroom in MBLAQ’s Daum Cafe not too long ago is a promise that his playfulness has not disappeared entirely, and has simply been on hiatus. Back on 28 March 2014 however, he was as cheeky and playful as ever at the Yeouido Fan Sign and that is the subject of today’s One Shot .gif.

While MBLAQ was still busy promoting their second mini album Y, Malaysian promotion, tour and event management company M.E Malaysia caught up with the gregarious bunch for a little getting to know you one-on-one session in a Gangnam-gu cafe late one night in July 2010. Even though they were exhausted from their hectic promotion schedule, the interview was playful and yielded some gorgeous pictures and one very cute video message to the Malaysian fans.

One of the first things I became aware of after G.O successfully abducted my heart was his uncanny ability to lock in on cameras in the audience from the stage with eagle-eyed precision. Every camera was a magnet and he, the steel. Early on I admit to being envious of those fans on the receiving end of those appreciative glances and penetrating gazes.
