It was very fortunate that there was so much buzz around the revival of 바람의나라 [The Kingdom of the Winds] which actually kind of amazes me since it had its first run in 2006, and remained relevant and popular eight years later. It is a fascinating story that weds history with mysticism and fantasy during turbulent and violent times when unstable kingdoms were breeding grounds for war, betrayal and tragedy. I have mentioned often (but I am SO proud of G.O for being a part of this magical musical), that the 2014 production was particularly special because of G.O being cast as the vulnerable Prince Hodong. Today, in keeping with my celebration of Kingdom, a short musical stage moment captured during early press previews.

Can there be anything more romantic than the tender gaze of G.O’s eyes during a gentle ballad? Remember when he joined HaHa and Taw on The Show and laced his velvet vocals around their 내 품이 좋다던 사람 [The Person By My Side?] I wrote about it back on Day 177, which seems like ages ago now that we are at the mid-400 days mark. I remember how angelic G.O looked and sounded during that performance. I came across a short fan cam taken during the recording of that segment back on 20 March 2012 and share it as today’s Fan-Camming Friday moment.

I have to be honest, I am finding it difficult to concentrate on what I want to write about for this post because that picture up there is mesmerizing me to the point of distraction. For me, there is so much perfect going on in that picture from G.O’s gorgeous profile, elegant and graceful hand, to the black suit jacket and tie (I don’t know what it is about G.O in a suit that just unhinges me, but it does). Framed by the glow of the stage lights, he looked so at ease as he moved through the choreography of 전쟁이야 [This Is War] back on 17 May 2013 during MBLAQ’s Japan Mona Lisa Event. Today, I open The J-Files treasure chest to look back on the short and oh-so-sweet promotion of the release of MBLAQ’s Japanese version of Mona Lisa.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 415

There is just something about 열쇠 [Key]. It seems to be one of those songs that digs deep into G.O and takes ahold of every fiber of emotion welling inside of him. From the Broken promotions to the final performances of the song into late 2014, you see it in his eyes when he sings it and without question, hear it in his voice. 열쇠 [Key] is a somber song filled with pleas to help ease the pain of a broken or closed heart and probably has one of the most poetic and touching choruses of any of MBLAQ’s songs. And yes, G.O is the commander of that chorus. Today’s Fan-Camming Friday moment is a G.O- focused cam taken during the performance of  the lyrically beautiful 열쇠 [Key] at MBLAQ’s July 2014 Summer Vacation in Tokyo.

I only have one question for those fans who had the honor and privilege of getting to one (or more) of MBLAQ concerts during their Blaq% Tour in 2012: How wild was Wild? Every fancam I have viewed (and I am certain I have not seen all of them) seems to indicate G.O and Mir’s live performance of their raucous dance track was every bit as electrifying and, yes…sexy as the provocative lyrics suggest it could, would and should be. Since it is Friday, I think we should revisit a Wild fan cam moment from the tour where you will not only be reminded of G.O’s astounding vocals, but also get a taste of that simmering sexy he lets come out to play in the performance. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have G.O sing MBLAQ’s  낙서 [Scribble] directly to you? True, he does not have a whole lot of actual singing time, but that did not stop some of our amazing cam operators from taking their cameras off of him one second during the entire song. For Day 276, a Fan-Camming day here on the Countdown, let’s travel back to January 2012 for MBLAQ’s performance of the rhythmic and soulful 낙서 at the Gonjiam Farm Festival.  It will be impossible to avoid the magic of this moment brought on by letsgoinho’s steady and focused cam, and G.O’s dreamy performance. Prepare yourselves.

Although they have become fewer over the past couple of years, there have been many documented moments of G.O’s absolute playfulness. Whether it was on the stage, during variety shows, fan meetings or fan signs; captured in video or in still photography, G.O’s brand of playfulness is a special part of his charm and will always remain one of many characteristics that make him so very attractive ~ in good times and bad. I am adding this category to my list and will share many of his playful moments over the next (and remaining) 478 days of his service.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 244

I carry around a notebook (everywhere I go) that has now become quite tattered wherein I have been keeping track of each and every Countdown post ~ yeah, I am pretty old school. When I began this series, I wrote down each day of G.O’s service and have been gradually filling in each line (day) with an idea or thought for a post for that specific day. A long while ago, I made Day 244 a Fan-Camming day and next to it simply wrote: Omiya. I have many fond memories of that lovely day in June. It was also a day filled with an avalanche of feels. When the newly minted trio performed 말하지 말걸 [Don’t Speak], hearing G.O sing it live once again reminded me that the song and his performance of it will forever remain in a class of its own when it comes to feels. Seriously.

As I patiently await his return from military duties, I also wait for the moment he unleashes his playfulness upon us once again.
