The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 541

I think you will agree that the best G.O fan-camming moments are generally those captured of him singing – at least I know they are my personal favorite. There are some days though when I just like to watch him engage with fans and talk, even when I don’t understand all of what he is saying. This might sound a bit quirky, but to my ears, G.O has an equally nice speaking voice. The lower tone in his voice may not be as deep as say, Joon’s, but it has a deep resonance about it that is incredibly soothing to the ear (and heart). If you really want to get a taste of it, listen to him during radio broadcasts (especially the Sweet Music Box  series he did with Jung Ga Eun). My Fan-Camming Friday offering today then is a little bit of G.O’s gentle speaking voice as he interacted with fans at the Lecaf fan sign in Busan back on 16 February 2013.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 536

With barely time to catch our breath after the double-duty survival report updates of August 3rd, G.O surprised us again with yet another update the very next evening. I hope he knows he is now creating not only a need to see him every day, but expectation as well! Well, maybe for some, anyway. I am going to try to keep my desire (and greed) to a minimum but still cannot contain my delight over G.O’s third update for the month of August.

One of G.O’s most ardent early fan photographers has been The Black Pearl. She (like many) has proved that there is much to admire about each and every photograph in existence of this expressively handsome man. I think you will find with today’s One Shot offering however that it is agreeably true that G.O fills a camera frame with more than just what the eye can see.

Beanie, shades and face mask will never retract from this guy’s omnipresent swag and stylish good looks. G.O proved just that back on 24 April 2012 as he glided through Gimpo Airport en route to Japan drenched in masculine shades of grey and black that coordinated like perfect pieces of a fashion puzzle. Haute airport couture. I felt like another Airport Style offering for today because sometimes watching G.O walk through an airport is like seeing him take flight from a different kind of runway altogether.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 517

He probably would disagree, but I think G.O singing a song entitled ‘Superstar’ was telling of his own artistic trajectory in Korean popular music. It had to have been an amazing moment back in October 2009 for the young vocalist to be singing the Luther Vandross version of The Carpenters’ hit at Rain’s Legend of Rainism show. This was basically a debut solo stage for G.O as MBLAQ’s main vocal. A solo stage in front of Rain’s fans singing a Western song in English no less. Mind-blowing! G.O singing Superstar has Vocal Virtuosity written all over it; but instead of sharing the cam from the actual stage performance, I am opting for the rehearsal clip because it is 1:12 minutes of sweet vocal magic.

There are a million ways in which I could show you how humble G.O is. But you really only need to meet him to experience it. In my opinion, humbleness is something that cannot be faked. It is either a part of who you are, or it is not. Some may mistake humbleness as self-doubt or low self-worth. But being humble is different. Markers of self-doubt or self-worth might include phrases like, I can’t or I am not good enough. Whereas I believe humbleness may be marked by phrases such asI will work harder or I will learn and improve, even in the wake of accolades. G.O has been told countless times from fans, contemporaries, producers, directors, and the like that he possesses a unique and special talent; yet he always reminds us that he will try harder or do better. This could not have been better demonstrated than when he received the 8th Korean Musical Awards award for best newcomer actor for his portrayal of the tragic young pansori artist Dong Ho in Seopyeonje.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 505

I am really quite grateful that there have been many western songs that have resonated with G.O to the point where he has revisited them on several occasions, letting us hear them more than once. In the early part of his career there were many songs from the Eric Benét songbook that captured G.O’s attention. Beautiful ballads crafted perfectly in melody and lyric that he artfully made his own by wrapping them in his own velvety voice. We have heard G.O sing Benét’s The Last Time a few times. I think his 8 December 2009 T-Store Live Session performance rises above the rest. I revisit it today as a sort of throwback Thursday moment remembering the poise, elegance and exquisite talent of this astonishing young man.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 485

Where do begin for this Fan-Camming Friday? I had my heart set on one cam and then became totally undone when I found a different cam for a different song from the same show. It was then that I was promptly reminded that the 13-year old squealing fangirl that I thought had matured somewhat and settled into the fact that she was residing in a not so young anymore middle-aged woman, returned with a boisterous vengeance. It has been awhile since I watched a cam and screamed at the monitor the entire time but this is exactly what happened when I watched G.O rip into the fierce, flirtatious and fervid Oh Yeah back on 13 June 2010 in Iksan.

I don’t know about you, but I am rather enjoying these moments looking back at G.O’s airport style. Back in June 2012, the men of MBLAQ were embarking upon their Blaq% Asia Tour and on the 28th of the month were Indonesia bound. Casual, comfortable and dangerously handsome (as always), I once again love how G.O can take something as simple as a white t-shirt, track suit pants and baseball cap and still make it look sophisticated. Let’s break it down and have a closer look, shall we?

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 471

One of the five million things I absolutely adore about G.O is how he is the perfect balance of fiercely masculine and achingly tender. On either side of those spectrums are numerous examples of each. Today I opt for a fiercely masculine moment which will always be best displayed during a performance of 저쟁이야 [This Is War]. Even at the fiercest moments of RunStay or even Oh Yeah, nothing matches the furious vocals, choreography or penetratingly intense gazes that This Is War brings. Couple that with black on black on black costumery and the performance becomes all that more powerful. There really is nothing that can remotely temper G.O’s intensity during any This Is War performance. It definitely was present at the Busan Catholic University show back in May 2012. In fact, that kind of intensity only amplified the charisma and handsomeness that oozed from the stage that day. It is Fan-Camming Friday and a blast of G.O intensity is the perfect way to usher in the weekend.
