The Fangirl Lane

The Fangirl Adventure Log: G.O’s Warm Hand

G.O has the most beautiful hands. And, as I found out…..quite warm, too! Yes, I started my second visit to Seoul off with a bang. After a huge flight delay and missed show, I still managed to chalk up a pretty epic fangirl adventure a mere 6 hours after my arrival into Seoul.

I guess the eternal optimist in me never believes that an airline would have the audacity to impede a fangirl from getting to the object of her affection. I mean, surely there are fangirls among them who could understand that a delayed flight could equal missed opportunities. I may have missed one but my precision planning and impulsive nature keeps me replete with back up plans!

Upon my arrival into Seoul I knew it was going to be a challenge to get to the theater to see G.O perform live on stage in his role as Dong Ho in the musical Seopyeonje. That was if the flight was on time. I never anticipated NOT making it. But that is precisely what happened.

I arrived to my apartment (I opted to rent an apartment instead of stay at a hotel) in Sinsa-dong a little after 6:30PM and the show was to start at 7:00PM. I was staying south of the Han River and the theater was north. It was a good half hour or more by subway to the theater and, well, I was not familiar with the area. Plus after 16 hours of travel….I needed a shower in the worse way!! No way was I going to risk an opportunity to meet G.O (oh yes, that was part of the plan) looking like I did. You never get a second chance to make a first impression. ^.^

I gave in to the fact that I would miss that first show. Yes, first. I had secured tickets to a total of 5 so although disappointing, I was ok because I knew I had 4 others in line. Obsessed, perhaps? I actually like to believe I am securing adequate back up plans and, simply supporting my bias.

After I let go of the disappointment (and anxiety) I decompressed, showered and made my way to the theater to (a) get familiar with which subway line to take and find it and (b) meet up with a Japanese fan (Yuko) afterwards. It was a clear, cool and beautiful evening in Seoul.

After getting a little lost, I found the theater and was greeted with its splendor and lots of G.O!!

Seeing the beautiful banners outside of the theater was thrilling all unto itself. I think the reason I was feeling soooooo excited was because I was there and well, he was inside performing. Double squee!

Having received a message from Yuko just prior to my arrival that intermission had just about concluded and the second part of the show was about to begin, I knew I had a little time to wait. When the show eventually let out, I sent Yuko a message to let her know I was there and asked where she wanted to meet. I saw people milling around the walkway under the entrance of the theater so I made my way there never anticipating what was about to happen next.

It was one of those moments when you do a double take and say to yourself…..there is no way that can be G.O just walking out like it ain’t no thing, heading to his car. NO WAY. But, it was. I could not believe my eyes. There he was, just walking out. Surrounded by fans, he wore a black hoodie sweatshirt with the hood pulled up over his head and he was also wearing his signature black face mask. He was not hurried or rushed, he took his time.

I think I went into a bit of shock.

He got into the car (passenger side). As he did, he repeatedly waved and said thank you to everyone.

As you can see, I obviously was not prepared and that is the result of trying to get it together for some kind of picture. Fail. But, I assure you, that IS G.O.

You can see where my position was at least. I could not get to the door because there were a good lot of fans so I was standing near the front of the vehicle. Once G.O was in he looked up and saw me. It was quite charming to see the look of surprise in his eyes when he saw me. I was the only foreigner in the mix of fans there and obviously stood out. In fact, he took a bit of a double take himself and when his eyes lit up, I did what only a bold noona could do, I blew that man a kiss. The smile in his eyes is something I don’t think I will ever forget.

After he was situated in the vehicle, he rolled down the window and it was near pandemonium. I rushed over to see if I could get a hand shake. I did. Then I went back to my initial position. Have to let others get some G.O love, right?!

Well….that move proved to be advantageous. I was near the front bumper of the vehicle and no one was to my right. Everyone was still trying to get in a handshake before the car pulled away. As it started to move, I assured the driver he was clear of me and waved him on to proceed. Hahahaa…I took it upon myself to direct this single car motorcade!!

The car proceeded very slowly and as a result, gave me a second opportunity to lock eyes with this beautiful, BEAUTIFUL man! As it passed me, he reached out and took my hand again to shake it. I think he said thank you and was nodding his head to me. All I could do was smile and nod back. I was stunned into silence.  He had my hand for what seemed like an eternity because in fangirl moments skinship like that feels like a lifetime. It was probably only seconds. His hand was so soft and so very warm – it radiated such warmth. I have heard on countless occasions that G.O is the fan service guy in MBLAQ and is the one who interacts the most. My good fortune, right?!

His eyes, however, are forever seared into my memory. Because he was wearing a face mask, I could not see his smile. But I knew he was smiling because when G.O smiles heartily, his eyes really sparkle and smile. Much like this picture:

GO Prior to Music Bank

I may have missed his performance that evening, but the disappointment of that was quickly erased by the events that happened following it.

I will see him perform Tuesday April 8 (second row seat), Wednesday April 9 (second row seat), Tuesday April 15 (fourth row seat) and on the eve of my departure, Saturday April 19 (third row seat) I don’t know if I will wait to see him following each of those performances – I don’t want to pummel the guy with foreigner overkill after all!! But, my fangirl heart may just compel me to do so simply because I would give anything at this moment to see him smile again as he did the first time I saw him.
