Ok, I really liked Speed Racer. And, no not just because Rain was in it although it was really cool that he was. But even more importantly, he landed on the Wachowski’s radar and THAT resulted in Ninja Assassin. I concur that Rain would make an incredibly good action film star with a healthy side of brood and insolence mixed in. I rather enjoy him in broody, insolent roles where you ultimately end up liking him because somewhere buried beneath those layers of insolence is a decent guy who upon discovering his own decency, lets us in on it. Rain’s Taejo Togokahn is one of those guys.

K-Shot Postscript: Rain 비 – Full House
I guess it is painfully obvious by now that I will never shy away from an opportunity to talk about Rain. It is also clear that he manages to show up in every post even when it is not about him! Yes, it’s true, I am a full blown Rain fangirl! Luckily, this post IS about him. When I posted Rain as my first K-Shot of Hot, I was in the process of watching his 2004 drama, Full House. At that time, I had no idea how the drama would play out but what I did see of it at the time of writing was enough to convince me that Rain’s Young Jae would make some kind of transformation. Now that I have long finished watching Full House, traveled to Seoul, and watched Rain walk through the West gate a fully discharged ROK Army sergeant, I am finally able to sit down and share my thoughts on his turn as bratty, loud, petulant, but eternally cute, Young Jae.
KIM “XIA” JUNSU
A man with an incredible voice who sings with unabashed emotion, has a provocative stage presence AND a beautifully pure and boyish smile? Sounds strikingly familiar, doesn’t it, Rain? Hmmm, maybe I have a K-type after all. My trip to Seoul exposed me to so many things and resulted in repeated visits to Korean music stores which subsequently got me a little more acquainted with K-pop. It was during this time I discovered Kim Junsu after a fangirl swoonfest over TVXQ. I admit to being duly smitten and immediately knew Junsu would be my next K-Shot of Hot.
Summing Up Seoul
It is impossible for me to adequately sum up my trip to Seoul when I have so many emotions crowding my heart. Let’s just say I did not want to leave. Perhaps that in and of itself, sums it up.
Under THAT Umbrella…eh, eh, eh
You know me, in anticipation of precipitation
Stack chips for the rainy day…
~Rhianna (Umbrella)
I never cease to amaze myself with the predicaments I often find myself in when going about my business of trying to find, obtain or do something, and the ensuing (and often amusing) adventures that invariably follow as a result. The tale of this umbrella is no exception.
K-Poppin’
If I had my K-drama moment the other day at the Coex Mall and the Bongeunsa Temple, then I had a bit of a K-Pop situation today when I hunted down (in the rain) S.M. Entertainment, JYP and Cube. Let me get this out of the way first, I did not see any K-pop stars in the flesh. I saw some reasonable facsimiles thereof.
Coex, K-Drama and Jellyfish
Today, I visited Samseong-dong, a vibrant and upscale area of Gangnam-du. I had no real plan for the day. Remember, I adopted ‘the plan is there is no plan’ motto while traveling in Seoul a few days ago.
Myeong dong-alicious!
The motto for Myeong dong should be “Go Big or Go Home!” I had read that Myeong dong was a shopper’s paradise. Absolutely, one hundred percent correct. And for this rainy Sunday evening, it was on and poppin’ throughout the streets of Myeong dong!
Slowly, Seoul….Slowly
Ok, I admit that I have been a little out of whack since July 10 and I admit that I probably should be going gung ho here, here in Seoul lapping up all the sights and sounds. I am, albeit at a slower pace. I knew when I planned this trip that I was picking the time of the year where it most probably rains the most – but is kind of fitting for the task that was hand, right?
The Day Ji Hoon Got Discharged

Sergeant Jeung Ji Hoon’s duty is complete. He can put the last 21 months behind him and get back to doing what he does best. Oh wait, he does a few things pretty well, come to think of it! Well, just do anything but be soldier in the ROK Army. He has done that pretty well and can now just file it away as something else he has accomplished and accomplished successfully. That will suffice for me!
