I know it may be hard to believe, but I have actually faced some days during this countdown series where I was unsure of what I would write about. Today was one of those days. But I have discovered a way to navigate that problem when it arises and that is to simply to pause, look and listen to G.O. Magically something always comes to mind. What came to mind today were thoughts of a fan meeting. I have never experienced a fan meeting of any kind for any artist or group, ever. It then occurred to me that my first fan meeting will be G.O’s first solo fan meeting next year. It furthered occurred to me that the first time I ever saw G.O perform was his first musical on the Korean musical stage. Therefore, to honor this idea of firsts, I am using MBLAQ’s first official fan meeting with their A+ back on 9 January 2011 and dropping it into a Vocal Virtuosity moment: G.O’s golden voice and You’re My +.
Today I reflect on the release of MBLAQ’s wonderful Mirror. It is the anniversary of the release of the group’s 8th mini album, but their first as a trio. As such, it will forever remain special, a memento and turning point marking a new chapter for the handsome young men carrying on the name and tradition of MBLAQ. I don’t know if G.O being away in the Army has made me extra special nostalgic or if it is simply a by-product of this series as I continue to pull moments and memories of G.O’s journey. On 9 June 2015, MBLAQ released Mirror, met the press, and met ever briefly with their loving fans. For today’s Fan-Camming Friday, I will rely on thegopygmalion who captured about two minutes of G.O-focused cam during the showcase held that warm Tuesday evening in June.
It is true that MBLAQ’s allure lies soundly in the music and all extensions of it in way of entertainment (variety, drama, film, musical theater, modeling, endorsements, etc). What makes them even more rounded and attractive, however, is the way in which they love their strong, loving and very enduring A+.
On this precise day last year, I was in the middle of preparing to go to Japan to spend time with some amazing Clouds and to see the other Jung (Ji Hoon) perform live on the Zepp Toyko stage. My….how things have changed for this fangirl! Twelve months later, I find myself preparing to travel again, but this time to Seoul to see the younger Jung (Byung Hee) perform live on stage with his MBLAQ brothers. Before I make that journey, however, I must pause a moment here to celebrate the man who has so undeniably stolen my heart, invaded my soul, and who has commandeered all of my attention steadily for the past 11 months. He turns a delightful 28 years old today and I just need to say, 병희씨…..생일 축하합니다….사랑해요!
