The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 250

I cannot even begin to imagine the number of times G.O has graced the many radio studios across Seoul over the course of his career. In those visits, he often had the opportunity to sing live. I think my favorites have always been those impromptu moments where he was asked to sing a song, or a clip of a song just off the cuff, no preparation. On March 15, 2014, G.O and Cha Ji Yeon (his co-star in the musical 서편제 [Seopyeonje]), dropped by Super Junior’s Kiss The Radio at the KBS Cool FM studios. It was there and then the humble musical actor gave the audience a little preview of what to expect when he would grace the Korean musical theater stage the following week playing the troubled Dong Ho in Seopyeonje.

The G.O mystique was slowly enveloping me by March 2014. As he was busy preparing for his debut on the Korean musical stage AND a comeback with MBLAQ, I was preparing to journey to Seoul to see him for the very first time. Seopyeone was set to open on 20 March 2014, and G.O would take the stage for his first performance on 22 March. Excitement and anticipation were both brewing as a result and it was no surprise that he and his co-star, Cha Ji Yeon, were out and about promoting the musical.

Even better were the two short clips G.O sang live and a cappella of 청춘이 [Youth], a song he would be performing in the musical one short week later. And they were melt-worthy, leaving me and a league of others hungry for more.

Wow…..no warm up, no music. Just a little taste of one of the more the hauntingly beautiful songs from Seopyeonje from a man with a voice more golden, smoother and sweeter than honey.
