I have to be honest. At this time last year, I thought there was no way anyone in Korean entertainment (music, movies, drama or otherwise) was going to topple Rain from the throne in my fangirl kingdom. If you would have asked me if it this could ever happen, I would have unequivocally answered ‘No’! So please imagine my own shock when it actually did happen. And, it happened with a force and fury I was not even prepared for. I have been asked by a sweet follower of the blog who has now become a treasured friend, to expound on the how, the why and the when MBLAQ’s G.O swooped in, staked his claim as my one true bias, and yes, promptly stole me away from his former mentor, Rain. So Endang, dear…I write this post for you.♥
An award? For moi?!! I am duly humbled and deliciously delighted that my dearest, sweetest (and inspiring) friend, Kfangurl of The Fangirl Verdict felt that I brought a little sunshine to her life and, as a result, nominated me for a Sunshine Award. And, if that wasn’t enough, my little baby MBLAQ sister, Nelly of MyMyooz also nominated me. Really, though, if ever there were rays of sunshine both here in the blogosphere and simply in general, these two darling ladies are all that and more! Kfangurl and I go way back…way, way back and I am one lucky blogger to have her in my corner as both mentor and friend. Nelly and I bonded and I mean BONDED over our mutual love, respect, and ardent adoration of MBLAQ’s main lead vocal, G.O, and this is a bond that will never be broken even in light of the latest news of alleged departure of two of the five members of the group. But…please, let’s not go there right now, because I just can’t….
So let me first say thank you to both Kfangurl and Nelly for the nom – I love both of you, lots!! Like this:
I am touched, honored and pleased to have been bestowed with two Liebster Award nods from two delightful fellow bloggers (and Jang Hyuk-loving fangirls), Stuck On Hyuk and Ahjussi Fan. Thank you my dears for this lovely honor.
The blogosphere is an amazing place filled with many amazing people writing about all kinds of amazing things. I am happy to be a resident here along with Stuck on Hyuk and Ahjussi Fan whose blogs are solid places to find a whole lot of Jang Hyuk love and other K and J-loving goodies! On to the Liebster…..
Actress Ku Hye Sun is quite the renaissance woman it seems. She is pretty accomplished and not yet 30 years of age. She is an actor, director, writer, illustrator, and singer. I admit to knowing nothing about her and her short film, Pieces of Memory, featuring Yoo Seung Ho, is my intro to her. I don’t even know her as an actress because I am probably one out of about a billion K-drama fans who has never seen Boys Over Flowers. <gasp>
In this short film which she wrote, directed, scored and even sung the theme song for, we have a gentle commentary about the passage of life and how the memories we collect determine how sweet (or not) it was. Touching and poignant, the film takes us through a journey of one man in five stages of his life as he contemplates and looks back on it. We get the beautiful doe-eyed Yoo Seung Ho portraying the man in the third stage of life, or as the young man.
This is the time in life when you are no longer a child or a teen but on the verge of starting to embark upon the journey as an adult filled with hope and verve of being ‘the conductor’ of your life. Best laid plans, right? There is very little dialogue and primarily voice overs but the message is thought-provoking and lovely with lines like, “Fragments of sweet memories came to me”, “Life was perfectly beautiful just so long as there were those sweet memories.”
It is the first Korean film to be shot using 4K3D technology which gives vivid and outstanding 3D effects as well as beautifully enhanced imagery. The set is immaculate and precise and the colors vivid and rich. This is a beautifully shot film and won Ku Hye Sun the Young Director Prize at the 2013 Seoul International Silver Film Festival.
Seung Ho has such a nice presence utilizing his gorgeous eyes to pretty much communicate his thoughts throughout the film. I love eclectic independent film work like this and believe it suits Seung Ho perfectly.
야뇌 (Acoustic Version) – BMK [Warrior Baek Dong Soo OST]
I seriously do not know where to begin. This drama took me on such a ride, I simply was not prepared. There is so much to say about it, but since this is a postscript to my K-Shot post on Yoo Seung Ho, I am going to focus solely on the agonizingly conflicted Yeo Woon (Un). Gosh, the minute I say or think of his name, Un, I am filled with such incredible emotion. Yoo Seung Ho became Un – he wasn’t Yoo Seung Ho playing a character, no – he became the character he was cast to play. And it was amazing to watch unfold.
This really turned out to be a super delicious Sunday!!♥♥
My world just collided beautifully! Seriously, how can I sleep in peace everyday now knowing there are more of these out there in net world? Woke up this morning and was presented by Michele of Your Daily K-Shot of Hot this grand CF and my cherry popped right away! You can’t ask for more when Rain and Seung Ho are in the same commercials showing us some of their daebak actions! It feels so surreal having to see them up close and be in the own real skin. This is a 2011 commercial for Adidas for winter workout. For all I know, the workout gear shown mostly at the beginning of 5 seconds and the rest mainly focusing on the actors being comfortable in their workout gear and moves!
*giggles* *blushes*… so you can see Seung Ho looks a tad younger but I think he showed us a few…
I feel like this is a celestial event. You know, the kind of thing that happens every 5000 years or something!! I just finished up and posted Yoo Seung Ho as my latest K-Shot, as you know, and Rain awhile ago. I knew when I decided to blog about the delicious men of the K-entertainment world that the amount of information out there would be so vast and wide, it would be next to impossible to find ALL of it, and indeed impossible to include in a single post. Hence, the K-Shot Postcript. My dear friend and fellow blogger, Stephe at Cloud USA and over at stephethornton.com has been a wonderful supporter of all I do over here (so much so she offered me a position on the Cloud USA staff as a writer) so I have her to thank for thunking me over the head with this one. Sinew and smolder collide when Rain and Yoo Seung Ho meet in the gym for Adidas. Oh yes this makes me very happy!! 🙂 Thank you, Stephe!!
The smoldering gaze of Yoo Seung Ho can most definitely render a fangirl of any age weak in the knees. Partner that with maturity, poise, intelligence, and affable charm and he becomes downright lethal! In fact, he becomes a fangirl dream. When I watch Yoo Seung Ho, I always have to pause a moment to remind myself that he is all of twenty years old! Building his acting resume since the age of 7 and settling into that wickedly intense smolder by age 16, I could no longer deny his rightful place here as a worthy K-Shot of Hot.
It is with much gratitude I thank fellow blogger and fellow Rain/Lee Jun Ki admirer, Belinda (It’s MyWorld – NewKDramaAddicts Drama Sandbox) for nominating my blog for a Liebster Award. I am touched she included me in her list and humbly accept this nomination even if my little infant of a blog is just that…an infant! Continue reading “The Liebster – #2”→
