The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 227

I think if I were to sit down and begin writing a list about all of the things I love about G.O, I would not be able to complete it in the 504 days left of his service. Definitely high on that list would be his playful nature. I think following Curtain Call he lost much of that playfulness but I think his recent appearance in Mir’s chatroom in MBLAQ’s Daum Cafe not too long ago is a promise that his playfulness has not disappeared entirely, and has simply been on hiatus. Back on 28 March 2014 however, he was as cheeky and playful as ever at the Yeouido Fan Sign and that is the subject of today’s One Shot .gif.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 226

I realize that every time I sit down to write about G.O for any one of these Countdown posts, it becomes an exercise of pouring out my love and admiration (and bias) for him and usually with absolute abandon. I admit my heart has no filter when it comes to expressing how I feel. But let’s face it, there is much to be admired. Today I simply want to revisit both the Samsung and Seoul Sangnam World Cup shows on 15 June 2011 and 19 June 2011, and drink in the beautiful sights and sounds (and light) of G.O looking iridescent and amazing in white.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 225

There are many character traits that make a man attractive. I happen to think intelligence, focus and attention to little details are a few that are admirable and important. We are at Day 225. 2-2-5!! I just want to have a little Star King fun revisiting that moment when G.O’s impeccable memory was challenged and he had to memorize – in exact order – a series of 30 letters, numbers and symbols. Was he successful? You bet he was!

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 224

Every moment that G.O shared the stage with a co-star in any one of his three musicals constitutes (in my opinion) a heavenly collaboration. So far I have looked at his on stage collaboration with Jang Eun Ah in Seopyeonje and recently, an off-stage moment with Go Young Bin sharing a song from 바람의나라 [The Kingdom of the Winds]. Likewise, in Gwanghwamun Sonata G.O shared collaborative moments with his co-stars, and this playful scene with Yoon Hyung Ryeol is one of my favorites.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 223

How on earth have I managed to come this far in my Countdown series without celebrating G.O’s incredible selca prowess?! In my opinion, G.O is MBLAQ’s undisputed selca king! As such, I must pay homage to this special art form by adding another little sub-category to the Countdown which I have aptly named G.O’s Selca Magic.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 222

I love everything about Mirror. It is a unique and tragically beautiful song that our amazing trio sunk every bit of emotion into when they introduced it to us in June 2015. And although I have not known him for very long, nor could I be so bold to assume I know his heart, what I think I can surmise adequately about G.O is that he will never shy away from revealing emotion. In my opinion, the veil of sadness that enveloped him throughout the Mirror promotions was not cathartic nor healing. It was, however, intense and emotional. On 11 June 2015, before the men of MBLAQ brought Mirror to the M Countdown stage, MNet captured G.O in a gorgeous focused fancam.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 221

For Day 221 of G.O’s service, the One Shot offering will be fan art. This is special fan art because it was a gift I received from my friend Marisol who is an extremely gifted and talented artist. She has given me more than one piece of G.O art and all are equally beautiful. I will start with this lovely take on G.O’s character Hyun Woo from the musical, Gwanghwamun Sonata.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 220

Clearly I am feeling nostalgic remembering the early months of 2014. It is with good reason. I had just fallen hard for MBLAQ’s main vocal and with it, the discovery of an entirely new world. It was exciting and although I was arriving late to the G.O realm, I was arriving just in time for a new Japanese single, a comeback, and yes, those two very important and pivotal musical theater roles. Today, I just feel like being devastated by the overwhelmingly beautiful visuals and tender sounds of  MBLAQ’s Japanese single, Still In Love.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 219

Light can be defined without sun.
Sweetness can be defined without honey.
Fragrance can be defined without a rose, but beauty cannot be defined without you.

At the close of 2013, I was well on my journey into falling deeply under G.O’s spell. It was fortunate in that there was much to look forward to in the new year, specifically an MBLAQ comeback, complete with a Japanese single release as well as two starring roles for our up and coming musical actor, G.O. Before the release of Broken and subsequent promotions, and before G.O’s Korean musical theater debut in Seopyeonje, the men of MBLAQ took part in a WAPOP concert at the Dome Art Hall of the Seoul Children’s Grand Park. Too much beautiful on the stage that day. Too much.

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 218

If anything has been established here with this Countdown series (as well as the blog in general since having my heart commandeered by G.O), it is clear I am sentimental. I guess it won’t surprise anyone that MBLAQ’s guest appearance at the K-Pop Festival in Changwon back in October 2012 pulled at my heartstrings a little given the fact that G.O was born in Changwon. It is kind of cool getting to go back to the place you were born to show the hometown crowd how well you have grown up, right?~^^
