The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 500

500th day! 500th day! 500th day! Way back when G.O entered training camp on that chilly February afternoon, did you ever think that 500 days would pass as quickly as they have? I sure didn’t. With just a little over seven months remaining, I am sure the plans for his fan meeting and comeback are well underway and that makes me very very excited. The proverbial light at the end of the tunnel is growing brighter and brighter as we close in on G.O’s discharge day. Without getting too wordy today, I simply want to celebrate this wonderful milestone moment with you, and indeed with him. Congratulations to our sweet military man Byung Hee! By the end of this 1st day of July, he will have completed his 500th day of service!~🎉

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 405

While it is true that G.O has had a lot of experience being the younger brother, much of that experience comes from being the younger brother of two older sisters. Outside of perhaps his peers and well, yes of course, his brother-in-law, he has not been the younger brother to an older brother. And before you Seungholics start screaming that indeed G.O has been and is a younger brother, I will say that I see your point; but really guys, Seung Ho is only three weeks to-the-day older than G.O. I think those two perhaps view themselves on more of an equal playing field. Nevertheless, I believe with all of my heart that G.O views Seung Ho as a brother (and an older one at that) not only in the colleague/peer sense, but in a family sense. Where am I going with this you might ask? Well, since I have been showing Tykeys quite a bit of love as of late, I wanted to touch on an early younger/older brother experience. G.O was Tykeys’ maknae after all and Kim Hyun Jung indeed his hyung. When I look at early pictures of the two, as well as their overall dynamic, I am convinced G.O endeared Hyun Jung as a more than just a band mate, he was indeed family and yes, an older brother. [notice] The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge

009

Just a little heads up to let those following the Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge here on the blog that beginning 1 November, I will be moving the publish time to 10:00 AM KST (it is currently 6:00 AM). With daylight’s saving time coming to a close here in my home state of Illinois on G.O’s birthday (6 November), the time difference between Chicago and Seoul will stretch to 15 hours. Somehow that extra hour makes the time difference seem even longer. I decided (after 254 posts) that I would really prefer being at home publishing these countdown offerings (instead of at the real job desk). Truth be told, I just want to give myself a little extra time to finalize and make the posts pretty before sending them into the blogosphere. I think you would agree that G.O is worth every extra bit of attention.~^^

The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 155

Can you imagine if every time you walked out of your house there was someone with a camera ready to point and click capturing your every move? I think about that when the lovelies of MBLAQ would go out on tour or need to travel for an appearance. Knowing that fans and/or press would be at the airport (foreign and domestic) to see them off (or greet them) had to have made them somewhat conscious of what to wear. G.O’s airport style was (and continues to be) comfortable, casual and so very cool.

In The Event Of An Event

I am finding that the more I continue to write about MBLAQ’s G.O, the more nostalgic I become remembering how I came to the MBLAQ fandom which in turn makes me reminiscent about many things, including the package events. I think about those events often. Although I almost always have very fond memories, there are still times I regret having done them at all. I have learned that overall people (and this is certainly not specific to our fandom) know how to take, but rarely do they know how to receive. It’s tricky. The receiving thing. I think many of us are not particularly comfortable in receiving, feeling undeserving or ineligible. Perhaps it is because some have primarily been givers that it becomes difficult to navigate the emotions of gratitude that flood our hearts when we are on the receiving end of anything be it words, physical gift, or even assistance. I understand because I, too, have trouble receiving. But, I am getting better at it. I have found that in giving I receive more than I could ever want for in a thousand lifetimes, and that has helped me become a better receiver.

February 17, 2018 ~ The Dream of a Distant Celebration

I know….I know. He has only just left. But it is never too soon to plan a party, right? It has been 29 days since MBLAQ’s gorgeous main vocal G.O reported to training camp to begin his mandatory military service. On March 17th he will complete his basic training and officially move to an assigned public service post where he will serve out the remainder of his one year and 11 months in the ROK Army (not that I am counting or anything…^^).
