[Musings] Dreams Do Come True ~ OnlyOneOf in Chicago

Even though the winds this past week have diminished a bit in my K-pop sails, I did prepare this post about my OnlyOneOf concert experience and want to publish it before they end their Grand America Tour. If you are a K-pop stan, be extra kind to your ults, faves, not so faves as well as fellow fans and fandoms. We never know how much time we have in this realm and it will always be better spent being loving, tolerant and kind.

I know. I have been mostly absent. Quite a bit absent, to be honest. Even with a relatively active K-pop concert schedule in 2022, I never felt the push to sit down and write about any of those experiences, even when they were off the chain fantastic – I’m looking at you CIX and Monsta X!! But the sheer miracle of OnlyOneOf putting together a US tour, AND coming to my city, has moved me in ways that I can only describe as miraculous. I have to talk about it, share some pics and video footage because it was THAT fantastic.

[Musings] CIX Is Coming!

I think it is safe to say that when A.C.E’s leader Junhee went into the Army back on February 7th, I fell into a bit of a K-pop malaise. With three members off to serve their country and a fourth (Byeongkwan) scheduled to go this month, I was really feeling the sting of this hiatus. Perhaps it is because individually as well as collectively, A.C.E has always been a strong presence in my K-pop realm. From a purely fan service perspective, they were there, every day – and, especially Jun. A day did not go by without him updating. I am honestly missing him more than I am missing Donghun..but, shhhhh, don’t tell DH!! I started to wonder if maybe I was hitting my K-pop fangirl expiration date. And then news of CIX having their first US tour, AND coming to my city, was announced. I have to say, I felt the shift, the squee as it were, and realized that I still have a whole lot of fangirl left in me! If you are not familiar with CIX, I hope I can persuade you to have a look and listen . . . and perhaps if they are coming to a city near you, coax you to go out and support this incredibly talented quintet.

[Musings] MCND On My Mind

Okay, so here’s what happened. Back in late August there was a live streaming musical festival that featured Asian artists from all over the world. Known as The Joy Ruckus Club, this would be the 4th annual festival of its kind, and as we were still in the midst of COVID (and unfortunately still are), the fest would take place online. Artists performed live sets from various locales including small venues with small audiences, to the artists’ own living rooms. It was a full ten day festival and was broadcast from places like New Zealand, Australia, Canada, the US, and of course, South Korea. Part of the festival included a K-pop segment called K-pop Superfest-New Beginnings. I bought a ticket and on August 28, 2021, I was officially introduced to MCND.

Musings ~ When Your Idol Invades Your Dreamscape

I woke up this morning feeling a bit melancholic. I suppose it is not so unlikely an emotion given the current state of the world at large. It’s been a difficult year on so many levels for so many. Yet at the same time I also felt upon waking a sort of winsomeness. You see, often when I dream I rarely remember. True also is the fact that many, if not most of my dreams, fall in the anxiety interpretation column if analyzed. Last night, I dreamt about Taemin.
