Every day, I find myself saying a prayer for G.O. I don’t ask for much outside of his health and happiness. But, I do pray that he not dwell on the past nor worry about the future. The crazy thing is, the bulk of this countdown series has been an exercise of dwelling on the past. Well, maybe it is a different kind of dwell. It is more of a revival or revisiting of moments in time G.O has shared with us from the very beginning of his career to today. Yes, some of the memories are tinged with sadness. The majority of them however are treasures. Today is the anniversary of MBLAQ’s first stage as a trio when they appeared at the Omiya Super Live Show in Japan back on 6 June 2015. Nostalgia once again sets in, and I must go back.
To commemorate this two year anniversary, I choose happy. I choose bubbly. I choose playful. There is always something about the song You’re My + that brings out the happy in everyone, including G.O. Perhaps singing a song of love and gratitude to the fans makes him feel as happy as we do hearing him sing it.
By the second show (the evening show), I have a feeling the uncertainty and anticipation of how things would go when Seung Ho, G.O and Mir took the stage in their new dynamic had passed. Things felt different, but they were the same. G.O was the same engaging, gregarious performer with a voice as clear and powerful as it ever was. If there was any doubt running through his heart and mind, he did not show it.
I will always love revisiting Omiya as it was an important moment for Seung Ho, G.O and Mir. They were on the eve of a comeback and this first stage as a trio was a wonderful and safe testing ground. Japan has always been welcoming and the JA+ strong and loyal in their support. I was so happy to be among them to welcome MBLAQ back.
I truly hope G.O felt the love.
