The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 104

As much as I honestly believe in my heart of hearts that G.O deserves and should record a solo album (if it is his dream or wish), he is and will always remain an amazing and powerful component in a group or duet. I wrote about his duet work in my 116 Reasons series and included his work with Brown Eyed Soul’s Jung Yup. When I look at the list of G.O’s duets over the course of his career, I’d have to say MNet’s A-Live performance of You Are My Lady is probably my favorite of G.O’s duets (if I am looking at his work outside of the parameters of either Tykeys or MBLAQ, that is).

G.O and Jung Yup are brothers from another mother, seriously. The tone and timbre in both of their voices are so similar, rich and balanced. Equally powerful are either’s ability to go tenderly falsetto creating an aching and longing in this beautiful song from Jung Yup’s first album, Thinkin’ Back on Me which was released in 2008.

Jung Yup and G.O are two vocalists with neo-soul R&B flowing in their collective veins. For real.

This song. This is one of those songs that pierces my heart from every angle. The melody. The lyrics. The arrangement, especially the quiet piano that forms a forlorn foundation cradling their voices ever so tenderly. Above all else though are the voices of these two incredible vocalists, and the soft and gentle way they sing this song. Multiple arrows to the heart.

Inside my heart filled with foolish hope
I keep thinking
You will come back to me . . .

I love watching G.O sing. It is mesmerizing. Part of what makes G.O so attractive is that he is living his dream. Watching an artist become enveloped in his dream creates a beauty that will forever surpass anything in the physical realm. That said, to me G.O is still the most attractive of them all (inside and out).
