The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 411

The Pure Love feels were reignited recently when a picture popped up on Instagram (compliments of goldentime_company) featuring G.O with two of his co-stars from the 2013 drama, 일말의 순정 [Pure/Remaining Love]. It is fortunate for us that we will soon get an opportunity to see G.O back on the screen (in his film debut this month!!) but as we (im)patiently wait for that moment, it is always nice to revisit his work in past dramas. Oh nostalgia is so very sweet in the form of the lovable Choi Min Soo.

Back on 21 March, goldentime_company posted this picture . . .

. . . and we all collectively let out a sweet sigh of remembrance. For me, I immediately wanted to go back and watch all of G.O’s scenes in the drama (specifically those moments in Episode 48). Truth be told, I never watched this show in its entirety. I admit to just watching G.O’s scenes.

I did visit G.O’s work in 일말의 순정 [Pure/Remaining Love] here on the Countdown way back on Day 30. Day 30!! Day 30 was 18 March 2016, and was the day after G.O completed basic training. Here we are on Day 411 and I cannot believe how fast the time has gone by. It is incredible. You know (mini milestone moment coming), in less than 3 weeks, he will officially have under 300 days remaining.

I’m stoked!! Ok, let me take a deep breath . . . *inhale* . . . *exhale*. With the posting of that picture on the 21st, I thought it might be nice to revisit a moment from the drama today. I pretty much adored him in every scene of every episode he was in, but really loved this moment from Episode 48:

I love G.O’s presence on screen!! The camera loves him! I know I am biased, but you have to agree with me somewhat that G.O has a natural and organic acting style. I guess another way of saying this would be that he seems to understand his characters. Maybe there is something about the character’s personality that is similar to his own. Or perhaps he has had similar life experiences as the character. Every role has some kind of a backstory or history. Of course, the writers and directors of a drama could also help guide an actor to find the connect. Still, an actor must have presence of mind to find the connect, especially if he is a complete opposite of the character he has been cast to portray. Hmmm….reminds me of when G.O mentioned that he was so unlike the character of Kang Hyun Woo in Gwanghwamun Sonata. But he certainly brought that role to life and very charismatically so.

I will always believe G.O has a wonderful way of communicating with his eyes which gives him the ability to capture emotion in scenes where there is no dialogue.

If G.O is contemplating further acting roles after his service, I will be completely on board with that decision and will encourage him to explore roles that are indeed way outside of his comfort zone. As I believe G.O is a vocalist capable of interpreting any type of song from any genre or era, I feel the same about his ability to do likewise as an actor. A singer who can act; an actor who can sing . . . and that only scratches the surface of the talent housed in this incredible young artist.
