The Soulful Countdown to G.O’s Discharge ~ Day 36

On the eve of his enlistment, G.O spent about a half hour in a chatroom at MBLAQ’s Daum Cafe saying good-bye to his A+ while simultaneously drenching them with his ever-present gratitude. He also said something that gave us all pause. Something probably none of us never in our wildest of dreams would think he would ever say: After two years time, I may not return as an active singer. Unfathomable, right? Well, if after two years he still has some reservations about returning, I would ask him to reflect on the evening of May 29, 2007, and maybe rethink that statement.

But everything means nothing
If I ain’t got you

First, let me be very clear. Whatever it is G.O decides to do post-military will be exactly what he is meant to do. He will have my unwavering support and I will back any decision he makes. But I am not going to deny that I will be very sad and disappointed if his decision is to no longer be active as a singer. For me personally, I cannot imagine a world without his voice.

There are so many amazing moments I could draw G.O’s attention to in order to help persuade him to keep singing for he has given us SO much of his gift, his voice….his soul. But I happen to think his performance of Alicia Keys’ If I Ain’t Got You with Baek Su Kyung and Lee Jung on the May 29, 2007 broadcast of Yoon Do Hyun’s Love Letter is perhaps one of his finest.

I hold firm in my belief that some people were simply born to sing.

This beautiful man right here is one of them.

I was shocked by that comment too. And can’t quite imagine it. But I hope he just meant that he might choose a slightly different path… perhaps staying in music but working more as a songwriter and concentrating less on singing his own stuff.
Maybe A+ can remind him… that even though he’ll no longer be a “boy”… his voice still has that “Absolute Quality”… than fans want to hear.
I want to still hear his voice… whether it’s his words, or his actual voice. His voice is one that needs to be heard.
In the meantime… I’m so glad there are these videos for us to hold dear G.O. in our thoughts…

Always. And, whatever he decides to do, I will be there supporting him every step of the way.^^
